If you must go with an Andersen hitch, and you may be able to use it OK with a '59 24 footer, I would advise that you weld the brackets to the tongue, or at least what I did, weld some stops to the tongue to prevent the brackets from sliding. Other than the coupler problem, this seems to be the biggest problem with the Andersen.

Thanks Steve, new rig though ,72 sovereign towed by 2000 excursion
Anticipate approx 6000lbs loaded 600 tongue weight

It varies by vehicle but, I have seen on some 1/2 tons 500 lbs as the max weight without WD.

Question What kind of hitch is this....

.....a very rusty 54 year old that probably should be replaced.
