Weight Factoid from Airstream Manual
Ran across this today waiting for adhesive to set for vinyl tiles in the bath.
The ideal towing ratio is 30 to 40 pounds per horse power for the entire weight of the trailer and tow vehicle. So a 4600 pound trailer with 400 added pounds of stuff - plus a 3000 pound tow vehicle with 700 pounds of people and stuff would total 8700 pounds. Divided by the horse power - 235 for us - would yield 37 pounds per horse. Goes on to say that the maximum acceptable ratio is 60 pounds per horse power.
