WD Hitch in Dallas
It seems I might need to replace my blue ox wd hitch.
Can anybody recommend anyone in the Dallas area that not only sells but knows how to do proper setup?

I'd love that same info in the Dallas area!! We just got the Equalizer, no issues but I don't know that the dealer got it quite right. I think it may need some adjustments and I'm curious who in Dallas is up for the job!
I know everyone talks about CanAm, but that's a little far for us here in TX
Anyone closer who's an expert?

I am replacing my Blue Ox with the Andersen WD system. It is easily installed and properly adjusted by any anyone that can read and turn a wrench.

Hogfan, your Equal-I-Zer is capable and one of the easiest w.d. hitches to set up. The instruction booklet (came with it or is on-line) is clear and simple. Using a tape measure to measure truck wheel well heights and trailer level you can get it very close to perfect. You should know how to do the adjustments as part of ownership.
Basically, the receiver drop bar adjustment levels the trailer and the w.d. bar brackets' adjustment returns the truck front axle to it's unhitched height. You can add or remove washers for the hitche's head tilt as desired, a little downward tilt to the rear is best.
You can confirm your adjustments on a truck scale to ensure weight is properly distributed and axles are not overloaded. A good thing to know.

With the instructions, tools, and trial and error, you can get it right all by yourself.
I highly recommend this method.
Change every adjustment one at a time, one notch at a time. You will find the sweet spot. It might take months or years, but when you get it there, you will know it, and towing will become a joy.
I would stick with the Blue Ox and try to get it dialed in.
I have owned an EazLift and currently own an Equal-i-zer. Both are great hitches. I think they all might be once you learn them and get them adjusted properly.

I was afraid of the Blue Ox because of the bent pin (another thread "ever seen this").
My Ford F-250 has 2 1/2" receiver shimmed down to 2". I just ordered a new 2 1/2" Blue Ox shank hoping that removing the shim will take some of the play out of the receiver. The pin hole in the old shank seemed a little sloppy.

I've had an equalizer, and a Reese dual cam, and liked them both but are both noisy. We are looking at the blue ox for our new trailer purchase. Foley RV says they are great hitches and QUIET. I'd love to hear if that's true. Thanks, Sandy

Mine is about 10 years old and still works good. Sometimes hear a little pop when turning but other than that is very quite. Big plus is being able to back into a slot without removing the bars. I'm no expert on hitches but would not hesitate to by another Blue Ox

We just had the Blue Ox system installed on our TV replacing our twenty yr old Reese hitch, and the Blue Ox system is dead quiet. Of course it is brand new, so we will see. The tow experience is so much better than our old trailer hitch set up.

I only have 600 miles on my Blue Ox Sway Pro with 1,000 lbs bars. So far the only noise is when I didn't have it dialed in properly (added weight to front of AS) on the first leg of my last trip. Came up one more chain link and all was quiet again and drove as stable as when originally installed by the AS tech.
I have very tight turn backing into the parking place off my driveway and it is nice not having to worry about the bars.

That's very true. I had the sway jacket brackets. And I used equAlizer brand grease. It was quieter than the dual cam Reese for sure, but he told me the Blue Ox was super quiet, whatever that means.

You ain't gotta use their grease necessarily- I use regular ole red wheel bearing grease in the round cardboard container from Advance Auto Parts.

Awe shucks, man! That's just "trailer pants". Wear the same ones over and over to keep from ruining another pair.
Actually, with time, you learn to couple/uncouple or simply walk by the thing without getting dirty.
I uncoupled in my "Sunday-go-to-meetin'-clothes" and didn't get the "trailer pants".

Saw the photos of that bent pin. It looked undersized to me and several others. The OP never returned with an explanation or follow up after that was pointed out.

Sometimes, slop and play will cause an elongated pin hole or a bent pin.
Stop the slop, stop the elongated pin hole and the bent been plus add more stable and quiet towing.
Some type of anti-rattle device will accomplish this. I purchased mine off Amazon.
