Warped stabilizer "pins"

If it's any consolation, I can't view any of them on my iOS devices either. I had to go to my laptop to see it. And that doesn't look right. Too much play.

So I was able to watch your video. If your bars are that loose when every thing is hooked up something is not set up correctly. The amount of space between the pins and the frame and the looseness of the pin is normal. But the bars appear to have no tension on them--you should not be able to move them by hand when they are sitting on the L brackets and you are on level ground. Start by making sure the ball height is correct. If the trailer is level when sitting on the ball, you have eight washers in, and the L brackets are the correct distance from the hitch and at a height so the bars are parallel with the trailer frame when sitting in the brackets--you should not be able to rattle the bars like that because they should have a lot of tension on them! So something is not set up or assembled correctly, or possibly the bars are bent?.

On your video all the slack is normal. I'm assuming you are simply holding a bar loosely in your hands and moving it around. If instead its actually inserted into the hitch then something is seriously wrong with your setup. Your bars, when properly hitched should have lots of torque placed upon them such that no man could ever budge them, even if kicking. Add more washers, up to 8.

I had problems with bending L-Pins and walking L-brackets until I implemented ROBERTSUNRUS's solution of drilling holes in the pins and installing roll pins. Ever since I applied this solution the hitch has been trouble-free for me.

The L-pin's job is to act as a fence to keep the spring bar on the L-bracket. The problem is that the top of the L-pin usually rides on the top of the spring bar, and as the bar moves back and forth during turns, it binds, and applies forces that bends the pins and sometimes moves the brackets along the tongue. The roll pin keeps the top of the L-pin off the top of the spring bar, thus eliminating the bind.

This is exactly what Progressive's redesigned L-pin with the flip clip does.

Sorry for any confusion, I was just trying to show the play in the spring arm between the L-pin and the L-Bracket. The spring arm was just laying on the bracket, it wasn't inserted into the hitch. When hooked up I cannot move the bar at all.

I was just wanting to show that the spring arm has enough play in it to move inboard and outboard creating a loud pop or bang. I think this may be what others are experiencing and could be bending the L-pin. I have not experienced this. I have replaced the original pins with the newer ones with the spring loaded retainer. The L-bracket pads have eliminated most of the squeaking but there is still some at the spring arm socket. My rig is pretty level when loaded up. I clean the sockets and other hitch parts before each trip and check the bolts' torque.

When I was sent under warranty new L brackets, the pins fit much more tightly than they did in the old brackets. The result is that the pins are so tight, they push downward on the L brackets ands push them backward at the bottom. Eventually they will be far enough away the bars may fall off. Most of this movement seems to occur when backing.

I have informed the manufacturer of this problem and hope they will send me smaller pins that have enough slop in them to work properly.
