Upgrade for Dodge PCM

Went for an oil change, was informed of an upgrade program for the intergrated
brake control module (ie; trailer brake controller) Had the new program installed,
have not used it yet. 2010 Ram 3500 diesel.

Yea, I was told about the program upgrade and it was installed in my controller also. They told me it made the braking lighter on light trailers, and heavier with heavy trailers and settings.

However, the problem I had with the controller in my '12 model was a delay, and the program change did not help with that problem. I suspect they may have made another change with the '13 models because I have not read where any of those owners are having troubles.

I recently installed a Prodigy P3 in my truck, and now my brakes work great, the way they should work.

From past reading on the TDR forum people have been asking for that update for a long time.
The 2010/2011 models did not have good trailer braking power for heavier trailers. The 2012 came with the light/heavy load adjustments and people claim to like it much better.

I have a 2013 and the brake controller is so smooth that you wonder if it is working.
I am using the "light" setting at 7.5 with a 5000lb trailer. Apparently they have worked out the problems from earlier years

Like you, I had this brake controller "update" supposedly done to my '10 Ram 3500 but have no reference number on my invoice to this performance enhancement update. It was verbally told to me by dealer mechanic and I think but am not sure...it was the ECM flash? not so much the brake controller itself being updated by way of parts or connecting computer updater to the brake controller itself. I have not towed yet with this update nor do I see any additional "option selections on the dash computer screen" everything appears to be the same. The '10 model year did not have the same brake controller option selections..as far tow heavy/light..electric/hydraulic?? or what ever the post '10 model year Rams have. I hope it works well. Trailer has been winterized/parked since all the updates and delivery... So, I have not reference to what it was prior to the update as well.

Just went out check..while truck running. I see absolutely NO change in the EVIC display...options etc.. BUT,,, not sure if the trailer has to be plugged in or not (still winterized and in storage can't plug in anytime soon) to get these options to appear in the EVIC. So for the record...at this point... I DO NOT have those 4 settings for the factory installed trailer tow brake controller. I will update when I use the trailer...just in case it changes the status.
Hopefully someone with a '10 Ram 2500/3500 or if the 1500's are identical and who have had their factory equipped brake controller "brake controller software? updated" can chime in.

my truck is supposed to have the latest flash and I also do not have the extra settings. Have not checked while hooked up to trailer. I have read that the flash is supposed to enable the extra settings , but the is very little info available on the web and even less a the dealer.Have a appointment at another dealer who seems more knowledgeable ,if I can't get the addition settings I am going to remove the factory controller which needs to be disabled by the dealer show it won't show an error. I think I will be happier with a Direclink control. Dodge really missed the boat on making a nice brake control.
