I have an Extang solid fold on my 2014 Tundra CrewMax. Flexibility and cargo security were most important to me when I picked that. It fits perfectly, easy to install. Easy to remove when I need the full bed. Easy to open and close. Very secure. However, like most foldable solid covers it leaks a bit between the seams. If a dry bed is critical to you, go with one piece and make sure the seals around the bed rails are clean and tight. If flexibility, convenience, security and one-man operation are more important, the solid tri fold is a good bet. If security isn't critial a foldable soft cover might be the right answer. Net: Which is best is a matter of what function you want given the way you plan to use the cover.

Second vote for Roll n Lock. Have one on my Tacoma and love it. Not cheap but very secure (locks to t-gate), good looking and verstatile. I like the fact that no prior planning is required if you need to use the bed for large/tall items as the cover rolls up inside a small area at the front of the bed.

I have an Undercover that I like. You can view it a Tonneaucoversworld.com. I had the Undercover SE on my GMC and upgraded to the Undercover LUX SE for my F-150. The LUX can be painted to match the truck color, but if I had it to do again, I would stay with the basic black. Cover weights 54 lbs and can be easily removed if need be. I have never had water leakage and have been in some downpours.

I have a Fold-a-Cover on our F150 crew. Not advertised as much as some but a great lid for our use. Had the best optional toolbox insert under the front most panel of any that I looked at. Has held up well for 2 years so far.

I have used a Diamondback HD for a few years (on an F350) - see the background in the attached picture. Am very happy with it. Put some Thule feet on for bike racks.
The selling feature for me is its load-carrying capacity - 1600 lbs. When doing construction work or other chores, it's no problem having heavy loads put on, and it's no problem walking around on it (e.g. to put bikes or kayaks on). Has good tie-down cleats. Also quick and easy to take off if I want to use the truck for a load of gravel.
Downside - it's expensive.

Tundra Tonneau

One thing you might consider is the amount of space the cover will use.
My neighbor has a Tundra with a crew cab (5.5 foot bed) and is very disappointed that his roll cover takes up so much of the bed when rolled.

I bought a hard fiberglass LEER for my double cab (6.5 foot bed) and I am very pleased with it. The super white paint match is perfect and it doesn't take any of the bed. The LEER and Jason tonneaus have better hardware than the ARE. I originally ordered an ARE and when it was being installed they messed up the spring hinge that was supposed to be worth an extra hundred bucks... so I told them to keep it and got the LEER for the same money.

Any way to carry a kayak with any type of tonneau covers?
I really like the idea of a sectioned cover, so I can put a motorcycle in the back of the truck (6.5' bed Tundra dbl cab) but I will need to take the kayak along when not hauling the bike.
I guess I could figure roof racks for the Tundra roof?

I really wanted a hard cover but my CFO said it wasn't in the budget. I found a Truxedo roll up on ebay that was in good shape. It's been a few months with it now and I'm really impressed. Sure someone could rip it open in a heartbeat but I'm going with out of sight out of mind.

Side wall rack. Make sure the cover you choose doesn't cover the top of the side walls then you can add a rack. My BakFlip VP has this design but I'd probably go with a canoe. I found I tip over kayaks very easily after having a kayak lesson a couple of years ago.

Check out DiamondBack covers. Multi section hard cover that allows easy removal of a section by one person.

late to the party, but I use a Retrax pro, which is an aluminum roll up cover. Super sturdy, no issues with leaks, easy DIY install, and you can lock it open at various points along the track. But...pricey, and the box that holds the rolled up portion does eat into bed length by about 10" (I have an 8' bed, so no real concern).

Built like a tank, and capable of supporting 500lb of weight on top. Looking into Kayak options as well.

Hi, I just bought a Retrax Pro roll up bed cover for my F-150. I'm waiting for the spray-o bed liner to be installed before I install this new cover.

(1.) I don't know, and maybe won't ever know, but they say mine will hold up to 500 lbs. spread out.

(2.) Dust can't be too much of a problem; The roll up canister has two water drains built into it.

(3.) My new bed cover uses Aluminum slats; Might need more that a knife.

The Retrax looks pretty nice. I'll be looking forward to reports on it especially when dirty, icy, snowy or just plain wet. How much for one of those?

With the 6.5' bed now pretty common, that would be a significant loss of space especially if you are hauling 8' sheets, 2 x 4's, etc.

Hi, my new F-150 has the 5 1/2 foot bed, but still way more storage room than my Lincoln. We don't plan on carrying large pieces of lumber since I don't have the need to build anything. I have carried long boards on the Lincoln's roof rack in the past. Also, four clamps and two people and this bed cover comes off and can be stored up-right.

5.5' bed plus 1.5' tailgate when down equals 1' over hang with a red flag attached to sheets of plywood.

Hi, Gene.

(1.) $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

(2.) The roll box does not go all the way to the bottom of the bed so a small stack of wood could slide right under the box. Therefore no real loss of room.

I installed the Backflip Fibermax and i am very happy with it. It was very easy to install and looks great.

Couple of random thoughts:
I like that it is flat with the truck side walls.
I got the Fibermax model which is a step up from the G2 and the dealer said that it will do better in the Arizona sun.
I like the fact that it is easy to have full bed access.
The cover is locked when you lock the tailgate
I am very pleased with the quality

Let me know if you have any questions or would like a photo.
