I can only talk about my situation. I have a 2017 and my controller did not work up to my expectations. You want a setup that will stop your trailer in partnership with your truck’s brakes stoping the truck. Someone earlier said he had no trouble stopping but someone else said that he had to replace his pads on the truck while the brakes on his trailer looked new. Think about that for a minute. Is his controller working properly? I say no. Will the Tundra stop the trailer, most likely.

Again, I can only tell you what happened to me and my brand new 2017 Tundra. Others have had good experiences with theirs. So your question is a tough one to answer. You might want to research the difference between a timed controller and a proportional controller. Big difference between the two.

I recently had the dealer (under warranty) upgrade the software on my 2016 Tundra IBC and, after my outing this past week, the system is now working as expected - that is the same as the Prodigy 2 worked on my 2010 Tundra. So, at least on my Tundra, it’s doing well.
