Easily Defeated.
Whack right above the lock. The Latch mushrooms and the ball falls out.
Or if the shanks is still on it pull up with a stinger with no ball and off you go.
I use a lock simular to Robertsunus. His will work on a Safari but not a Classic. The lip is too tall.

I'm thinking something like a bear trap coupled to the hitch. One wrong step and the thief will regret it.

Hi, I don't know how you can say that, "the G-37 will work on a Safari, but not on a Classic." I added a rubber horse shoe, cut from a tire side wall to make it fit tighter on my coupler; And I'm sure it will fit a Classic too with out any grinding like you said you would have to do with the Gorrila brand that you bought.

If you look inside of the second picture, you can see the rubber horse shoe glued inside of the top section.

Has anyone thought of installing an insulated, hidden switch that would reverse the hot and ground while the trailer was stored and on shore power. It happens often enough accidentaly that you could claim ignorance when they came to haul the body away. Most likely the thief would give up after the second touch, but you would need some way to hide or lock up the electrical hookup.
Probably not a legal thing to do, but would sure be fun to watch the attempted theft.

Hi, this would only be good if your trailer could tell the difference between a thief and a innocent little kid. [or any other innocent person]

I think post no# 15 has the right way to go about a theft. This creates the event of catching the thieves redhanded and thrown in jail or even prison where those idiots belong. Furthermore a lot of simple phones have GPS built into them....you could almost leave one charging in a hidden place all the time...

The goal for most owners is to make their trailer a more difficult target then the one down the street, that's about all we can do. Wheel boots help, but like any deterant can be defeated. Insurance is a must, but especially for vintage trailer owners replacement can be difficult or impossible.

On a Vintage trailer there is no replacement. You put hours into making the trailer your own special man cave by restoring, updating and crafting it like no other. I told a friend, having a stolen trailer is like pulling into your driveway and having your house gone. Nothing but an empty lot.

So...what lock fits a 1964 Marvel 2" coupler?
Does the Guardian G-37 fit? I tried and returned the yellow Gorilla.

A quick Google search came up with this one - there may be others out there:

Master Trailer Coupler Lock 2 and 2-5/16-inch couplers

If my trailer was parked where it could be stolen I would remove the wheels and store them indoors. A common thief wouldnt know what rims would fit and wouldn't bother. One more step in theft prevention would be to remove the hubs.

There are good 12 volt alarms that will activate when it is moved, shaken or ??. Hide the alarm speaker surely this would draw enough attention to ward off any person attempting to steal your trailer

The speaker could be installed in the roof air housing.
