I've recently purchased a 2008 25' Airstream Safari, and a 2008 Ford Expedition EL to tow it.... unfortunately, I now have learned that there are no mirror extenders available from Ford ( such as they make available for their trucks), and so far I've been unable to find any quality after market products..does anyone have a solution for this issue...such as a company that would custom make a mirror extender? Price is not an object, safety is!

While Ford may not make extenders to add to your mirrors, I know Ford makes extendable mirrors for their trucks. I wonder if you could retrofit this style of mirror to your Expedition.

Dave: I talked to Ford representatives at the Portland auto show yesterday, and they said no..the window styles are different between the trucks and the suv's..gerry
I can vouch for the CIPA Universal ones as being pretty good. CIPA is located just a few minutes from where I live and they gave me a bag of extra backing pads after the others fell off. Not a big deal but the customer service was great.
We used them for about 10,000 miles last summer and they do help and barely vibrate. You will need a helper to align them while you sit in the driver's seat.
I think most larger Walmarts or K-marts have them for about $28-$30. I just checked and Amazon has them for $18...buy 2 and get free shipping.

I used the "Universal" type mirrors and did not like them at all but had to keep them for the first 8,000 miles of my last trip. Stopped at Camping World and got the "Slip On" mirrors: Cipa Mirrors - Camping World
and I am very happy used them for the last 5,000 miles. That was on a Chevy Silverado...

I also use these slip over mirrors, and they work very well. Very little vibration, good view, and stay put. Easy on, easy off with no marks to my oem mirrors. All is good, because I like my "normal" size mirrors for all around driving without the TT. Good value, and worth the $60/pair to try. I also tried the clip on universal style noted in an earlier post, and found them shaky and the clips broke. I returned them to CW.

We use the Tow n' See suction mirrors from Camping World. They work great, they are fully adjustable with the OEM mirrir control, They're reasonablly price (under $25 each), and they are easy on and off. We've used them for about 20,000 miles.
Prior to the Tow n' See we had the McKesh mirrors. We found them hard to adjust. Hard to put on and take off, large to store, and on the expensive side ($120).

Welcome to the Airsforums! Camping World has several inexpensive temporarily mountable mirrors... We ended up with the type that Richard (azflycaster) noted above...We thought we'd try them for a while since they are very reasonably priced, to see how they worked...so far so good...we haven't felt like we need to try again...and the price is right. I added little convex spot mirrors to them and I can see most of what I need to.
