Please post what you get with what you have.

We get 10-12 mpg gas with '03 GMC Sierra, 4.8 liter, 4 speed auto and '76 Tradewind 25'.

What do you get and what do you have?

05 3/4 ton 6.0 Quadrasteer Suburban with a 3.73 rear towing a 27' Overlander (about 6000# loaded)

We get around 10-11 mpg. But almost all of my towing has been in the "hills of VA) I average around 65mph.

2006 Chevrolet 2500HD with the LBZ Duramax and six speed Allison transmission pulling a 2005 28' International CCD. 2400 mile round trip when the truck was a week old, we averaged 13.6 mpg @ 65 mph. I expect that the truck with 8000 plus miles on it now will do even better than that on future trips. Come on Spring!

At first I was getting about 11mpg towing a 6300lb 2004 Safari, but as the truck ages, I seem to get better than that. On a trip to Jackson Center, then to Louisville, I managed to get 13.7. Of course I wasn't going 65 or 70.

Towing Fuel Miliage

With our 97 Ford powerstroke crewcab 4WD shortbed 4spd. auto,4:10 gearing and being 7,200 lbs, pulling our 78 29' Ambassador of 6,200 lbs loaded, we average:
12 mpg at 70 mph.
14 mpg at 65 mph.
15 mpg at 60 mph.
Our powerstroke has some nice modifications for additional torque, but mpg figures have remained the same.Jeff

Airstream = 16' CCD
Truck = Dodge Quad Cab, Cummins Turbo Diesel
MPG Towing = 16 to 17

I'm definitely on the good side of the power to weight ratio - but I live in the Rocky Mountain region, and it sure is nice on long grades and high elevations.

The Expedition gets 10-11 mpg towing and 14-15 solo. I like 62-65 mph and use cruise control with OD shut off.

Fuel Milage 2006 Duramax GMC

I just purchased a 2006 GMC 2500HD with a Duramax and an Allison xmission.
The engine is 360HP.
Fuel milage is a great 20.2 mpg at 55 mph over 100 mile distance.
I towed my 34' Excella wide body this week over 240 miles and got 16.2 mpg.

I am very very pleased with this performance.

Previously, I owned a 2001 Chevy Silverado that got 12.4 mpg without the trailer and 10.2mpg with the trailer. It had the 8.1 Liter engine with an Allison. I towed with it to Nova Scotia and to Alaska from Texas.

'05 Volkswagen Touareg pulling 25' Safari
12 MPG give or take a MPG.I live in florida so everything is flat.Climbing mountains I would think around 9 MPG give or take a MPG.
Also I did most of my pulling during the winter but would think it would go down about 1 or 2 MPG in the summer with the heat making the engine run harder.

Pepto Bismol

Oh, we haven't check it. We just fill up the tank and keep the Pepto Bismol (chewable variety) on hand.

Honey, where's the card?

Towing my '76 Argosy 20 with a 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 4.0L automatic got 10 mpg across I-80 out west. That was a shocker! Had the truck first. the running gear is great in the Berkshires in winter, but why am I dragging it over the Rockies?
