Towing and LR3 2006

Hi All - I will be purchasing either a 2013 or 2014 International Signature 23D. For my LR3, the maximum permissible towed weight is 7716 lb. and 550lb maximum permission tongue weight.

I can pull the 23D just fine with this, right? GVWR says 6,000 lbs. for the International.

Next - does anyone have a preference of the following:

1). Weight Distribution Bars
2). Anti-Sway Bar

Thank you!!
Jane

A 6000 pound trailer with a typical 13% tongue weight would be 780 pounds.
Even if the trailer just weighs 5500, at 13%, that is 715 pounds tongue.

I wonder if anyone has had a similar trailer on the scales? My 27FB Flying Cloud loaded for camping comes in at 5880# (but tongue with ProPride is over 1000#). That 6000# rating on your 23D may be a GVWR max but not the actual scale weight. Still, you could be right on the edge but its worth getting it on a scale to be sure in my opinion. Good luck!

The GVWR is the maximum allowable number, so a typical use figure should be somewhat lower. I'd check out what the trailer really weighs.

I don't know enough about the LR3 to have an opinion on whether or not the hitch can be strengthened to deal with a higher tongue weight, if needed. But I know a man who does.

I suggest giving Andrew Thomson from CanAm RV a call. 1-866-226-2678
I know that he has set up a number of Landies for towing, so he'll have an informed opinion.
