Thanks Jim.' When I go for a rescue I take rims (correct bolt pattern 5 or 6 lugs. I take WD 40, Blaster for loosening screws and bolts. As soon as I get there I shoot the hitch and lug bolts with the Blaster....it gives a while to work. I also carry a small aluminum floor jack (Northern Freight) and a few boards. My tool kit has a hack saw, a hand rivet tool and some belly pan type rivets, and zip ties always help on something. I carry what I need to grease the bearings too. When I change the wheels and tires I do the bearings too. You can do all this in a driveway or pasture if needed. In Summertime a wasp spray....actually a good bug spray in the Winter too. Don't forget the temp lights and all paperwork.

We just towed my 65 Globetrotter home on a flatbed tonight! Mission accomplished, but it barely, barely, fit width wide on the trailer!

Thanks everyone for the advice, especially to Melody Ranch for some direct suggestions. With his and others' advice, I was confident enough to tow the Bubble back on her own two wheels yesterday. She made the 330 mile trek with no problems whatsoever!

Thanks again for the input...now the real fun begins!

Thanks MR, excited to start working on her!

As an aside, I learned a valuable lesson on this acquisition: Don't give anyone any details about your purchase until you have it safely in your possession. Someone in this thread PM'ed me and pretended to be helpful in an effort to get information out of me about the trailer's location. Based strictly on the city I was picking the trailer up in, this member stalkishly obtained the seller's phone number and called him, attempting to buy the trailer out from underneath me. Fortunately the seller is a stand-up guy and didn't entertain the idea. Seeing as how I'd explained to this member how I'd already purchased the trailer and had immediate plans to go pick it up, this seems like a super D-bag move to me. I politely asked him about it via PM, and he promptly blocked me from sending him any more messages. Pretty damn shady.

I, perhaps naively, didn't expect that kind of shadiness from someone on the forums. I've been a member of several other vintage collector/hobbyist forums for years and never experienced anything similar. Lesson learned!

Thanks again to everyone who has offered advice so far!

Wow, seriously dirty trick. I'm super glad it didn't work and you have your baby at home safely now.

I am so sorry this happened to you--I haven't heard of anything so nasty on this forum before. There are a lot of weirdos out there.

Anyway, welcome to our perhaps not-so-perfect Forum!

As you begin the next phase of your restoration or renovation of your "new" Bubble, you'll find Melody Ranch just as helpful and totally knowledgeable. Use him well.
Sorry Robin ;-)

I am glad you got it home OK and did not have anymore problems with the crappy person trying to short cut you. I see this on Ebay all the time.....mostly it is someone contacting the seller by msg then making a sob story appeal to buy outside of Ebay auctions. Stupid on the sellers part....if the buyer would buy it for a set price he could buy it for that, or cheaper, with Ebay....and there is a chance the seller could sell it for more than the cut in is trying to buy it for. Anyway...good for you!
