Substantial enough to tow the Bambi, but may not give it a gentle ride. A long wheelbase tow vehicle and short travel trailer is a combination that is difficult to back up.

You need a break controller and if your tongue weight is more then 500lbs you should use a weight distributing hitch.

In addition to the above, a good sway control hitch would be advisable as well. A lot of threads on hitches going on now, check them out. I tow with half ton trucks and feel very comfortable. I do not think Airstream makes a trailer that a good half ton will not be fine as a TV. Others think that they need 3/4 and even up to 1 tons. That is fine that they do.
What year is your Chevy and what rear end is in it?
Joe

thanks all, it is a shortbed crew cab. We looked at the 19 and 20 ft's again today. I wish theu made a 19ft with the bed across the back like the 16 and 20

19' Bambi tow

I tow a 2005 19 Bambi with Dodge 1500 with 4.6 v-8. I use equalizer hitch, air bag shock supplements, we have towed over 20,000 miles and in elevations over 9,00 feet with absolutely no problems. Truck had factory tow package stock. I would like a bigger cab for convince but we are unwilling to give up the flexibility of the two short wheelbases when visiting State Parks. The key to towing is not only the size of tow vehicle but also the differential gearing. I am geared at 3.9 which is ideal. Average gas mileage has been 11.1 since we started towing in 2005. Love the setup. Would not change.
