Totally frustrated with hitch......

I'm hoping that someone can help. So I'll keep this short. Have a FC 23FB was towing with a 2015 Jeep GC with a Equalizer hitch. After several trips we found this was not working for us. Decided to get a truck and got a great deal on a 2015 Ram 2500. Got a new shank with the lowest drop for the 2 1/2" receiver. Set everything up per the Equalizer instructions. Now a have a AS that sets almost 3" high from front to back. I understand that a trailer setting high isn't a good thing when it is do to improper weight distribution but, will this be an issue if it's do only to ball height? I wish these WD hitch companies would keep up with the truck companies that have gone to 2 1/2" receiver and keep raising the height of their trucks. I thought my boat was a money pit, this AS is way deeper....

The trailer needs to be level, so you need a longer drop shank. There was another recent thread on the same issue.

Your 2500 RAM is an over kill for that 23ft AS, but that's not the issue. A new shank that compensates for the 3 inch drop should solve the problem. I also use the equalizer & the 2.5 receiver is a non issue, it's the height of the shank.

Here is my new Ram 2500. I ordered the Equalizer 2 1/2" 12"/6" Drop. This is part number 90-02-4900. The ball is just slightly higher than the top of the tongue with the trailer level.

2-1/2 shank. 12 long x 6 max drop or 10 max rise. : Equal-i-zer Hitch Store

I have a heavier hitch weight than your 23fb so I have 5 washers to angle the head. 1000 lb bars which are set parallel to the trailer frame.

The distance from the ground to the bottom of the receiver opening is about 23". My truck has the 20" tires but I measured the distance on a Tradesman with 18" rims and it was the same.

My trailer has 15" tires while I think yours might have 14" rims. Maybe your trailer sits a bit lower than my 25fb.

First step is getting the ball at the proper elevation. As I remember there is discussion about that in the Equalizer instructions. As already pointed out, your shank likely does not have adequate drop.
