To David NJ regarding your weights from the Cat Scales:
Your steer axle weights when loaded are much too light. You should never have less steer axle weight when connected than when not towing. Either your hitch receiver is twisting or the Blue Ox isn't moving as much weight as is required. The steer axle should be heavier by 1/3 your tongue weight if you are transferring correctly.

The question about TW hasn’t mattered in fifty years. WDH took care of it.

The exploration about steering, handling and braking is what matters. As it goes where 90% can’t get off the ground: correct WD

Dead-level trailer (measured), and TV rear axle 10% heavier than the front (scale values; where the front is near solo value +/- ) is the start point.

Also, that TV tires are pressurized to load, but not higher. TT tires to maximum.

This is where the dynamic tests start. Static values established.

Trailer sway is best addressed belt & suspended: Hensley-patent hitch and TUSON trailer anti-sway device.

If you can’t stop faster Towing than solo, and cannot do repeated high speed double lane change emergency maneuvers you ain’t done.

Well said!

P.S. Disc Brakes on the AS go a long way with the faster stopping.
