tongue weight scale

While shopping for a tongue weight scale, I noticed that several manufacturers offer different total weight options. Is their any reason for this? If not, why not order the 5000# model and be able to use it on several trailers, just asking?

A simple bathroom scale and a 4x4 will do the job to the degree of accuracy you should need.

The graduation on the scale is finer on the lower reading gauges, thus making it easier to read your tongue weight. I would go with the lowest range possible to make it easiest to read.

However, as HowieE has said some bathroom scales read high enough to measure. For my trailer tongue weight of 350# I would need a bathroom scale that reads up to 500#. YMMV

No, I think he was referring to this method.
