About a month ago, I posted saying we were selling the diesel pusher and going back to aluminum. The bus now has new owners so the hunt is on for a trailer. While reviewing the weight chart published by Airstream, I noticed the 30' Classic for years 2005 through 2009 have unusually light tongue weights, or it least they appear that way to me. If correct, this fits perfectly with what we are looking for. So, I'd like to hear some real world weights from those of you that have that model and year range. I live by the adage "trust but verify", it helps keep me out of the ditch. Appreciate any input about the trailer as well.

They are much lighter, as a percentage of total weight, than many other models. I have a 30' classic (non-slide....the slides are heavy on the tongue) and just completed (along with another forum member) a very anal-retentive spreadsheet which accounts for various loading scenarios. I actually have difficulty in a couple of trip loading scenarios getting 10% tongue weight. I am usually between 9% and 10% and intentionally move some stuff from the truck to the Lounge floor to get my 10 - 11%.

My baseline weight (before any clothes, food, etc...but all "permanent" gear loaded) is 8568# with 853# TW.

Fully loaded with all toys, including the tongue mounted bikes (but no food and clothes etc.) is 9298#, with 1014# on the tongue.

My Tongue weight is 750lbs on a fully loaded trailer. Water tank full. 2 - 40lb propane tanks full and 2 batteries as came standard from the factory.

As a result of the light tongue weight I ended up using a Hensley. Just was unable to get the EZ lift to work properly.

Thanks Gator. I tried to push the boss to this model but I failed! Wound up with a 2015 30' with more tongue weight than I wanted, but still ok. Always best to keep the boss happy!

With our 2005 CCD 25Ft RB printed 5300lb dry placard. (CCDs seem to be less weight per inner trim), With 1/3 fresh water, 90% full dual 40lb propanes, new dual batteries, basic stock to camp with no food or clothes was digitally clocked at 750lbs. Adding the Eze-Lift WD w 1000lb rated bars/gear, adds another 60lbs on hitch = 810lbs. So in theory, WD properly adjusted should offload @ 30% (-243lbs) of combined HW to the far axels. Hitched up ready to roll adjusted should also then be @ 567lbs ?

Our FC 25 has a published hitch weight of 835 lbs and our ProPride hitch and stinger weighs 180, bikes and rack on rear bumper 85 lbs. Our Airstream loads are not always consistent before/after months' long trips, and we have modified the interior for two recliner chairs, which we can move around.

We can also adjust interior loads, heavy to middle or somewhat aft, light in front. Our last trip to the truck scale with truck and then truck/tailer showed our Airstream added 820 lbs to the truck with weight distribution set, and the truck axles near equal load. Rides and handles very well.
