Had a blowout last month, curbside front tire on my 06 Safari. Was about 1500 miles into the trip coming through Mohave down the mountain doing 65 when the Goodyear blew. I don't know what happened, didn't feel a thing and a car pulled alongside with a sign in the window saying "you have a flat". By the time I pulled over there was little tire left and the impact puncture the wheel well and pulled out an electrical harness shredding it causing loss of all ceiling lights AC and Sony player.
Don't know if it was the heat or what.

What a Bummer.
That's the second cable trashed by a blowout that I have seen on here recently.
Might be a good idea for Airstream to route the cables a different way.

Yes, seems like tire damage due to blowouts can be messy. I'm lucky it didn't damage skin.

When I threw my original equipment GYM "ST" tires out, and replaced them with Michelin LTX, I installed a Dill TPMS system as well. The Dill's dash mounted receiver tells me tire pressure and temperature of each of the four tires. It's nice to know this info "as you roll."

It was a tad bit expensive, but in the big picture I think adding to the safety is well worth it. Clearly there's no guarantee I won't get blowouts, but I think I have done every prudent thing I can to avoid it.
