The Airstream Yardstick

I've seen various references to this and wonder if anyone can give me definitive information on how Airstream calculates the length of its trailers, relative to the rest of the world.

In other words, is a "28" ft. Airstream International CCD truly considered a 28 foot travel trailer by, say, the NHTSA, or would they classify it as a 25-footer +/- taking into account the length of the unit only, and not including the hitch frame?

The manufacturer's specs for my prospective tow vehicle carries a specific length limitation. By whose yardstick is this length determined? Many thanks for any input.

I believe that all trailers are measured ball to bumper. The part I'm not sure of is if that is from the center-line of the ball or the front most point on the ball hitch? Of course that would only change the length by about 1.5" or so.

Ask the manufacturer, they're the one with the limitation.
