Suggested Moulded Towing Mirrors?

So doing a search on here I see people suggest the moulded towing mirrors for best results from a shaking stand point. I see others suggest the Aero 2 mirrors, but in my opinion they are very ugly.

So is there a general consensus as to which are the best clip on moulded style mirrors? Doing an amazon search I find the Fit brand:

My truck is a Silverado, but I would assume most companies make them for all brands of trucks.

My biggest concern is they don't stick out very wide for a widebody trailer, which is probably why most people like the hideous Aero2 mirrors...

I am also not interested in moving to the actual GM towing mirrors as I don't see myself keeping this truck all that long, going to upgrade to a diesel in the next 2 years, so I would just like a good quality mirror to get me by.

We have a GMC 2500HD with factory pull out towing mirrors - they are just manual, not electric, I still have the orignal standard heated electric mirrors with turn signal repeters if any future buyer might want them.

What I will say though is that I find not much difference whether they are pulled out or not.

They do have upper and lower mirror sections with lower sections being convex which is handy.


It happens fairly often that I forget to pull the mirrors out whenwe start out on a trip and I don't really even bother to stop to pull them out as I feel the difference is so little! If I think of it I will pull them out next time we stop for fuel for what little extra benefit they give!

Our trailer is the wide body size.

Maybe the aftermarket mirrors extend out further - but really i see little need with our truck.

We have a set of the "regular" Aero mirrors, as I couldn't find the Aero 2s when we needed them. The originals are smaller and shaped differently, and in my opinion work very well with our F150 stock mirrors.

They are easy to take on and off once adjusted and they are rock solid at 65 miles an hour. Hope this helps.

I also vote for the Longview mirrors. I had the CIPA's and sold them. The Longview mirrors have more width and provide a better view down the side of your trailer. The Longview mirrors do have a graphic (firebird?) moulded into the plastic of the mirror, kind of goofy IMO, not sure why they felt that was necessary.

I've been using these for the past 8 yrs. I like how far out they are so I can see down the side and towards the middle far back. The only thing negative about them is if you have folding mirrors. The pressure on them being so big and sticking out so much causes them to fold your mirrors in when a truck passes by the other way and your going a good clip. I fixed this by using a strap from the mirror to inside the back of hood. It clips to the mirror for easy removal when needing to fold mirrors in for parking.

I have bought lots of OE style aftermarket towing mirrors for my Tundra as well as Ford and GM fleet trucks very reasonably priced (half off OE) at discountautomirrors.com.

I used the CIPA mirrors on a 2006 F-150. While it looks like they don't stick out very far, it was far enough. I got very comfortable with them and actually liked the view from them better than the view from the OEM flip-out towing mirrors on my 2103 Ram 2500.

We have used these CIPA mirrors now for 4 years and are very happy. Easy on/easy off, very secure, and they provide good vision with our F150. They also have for GM and other vehicles.

I agree with others on the CIPA mirrors. Used them on a Ford Explorer, GMC Yukon, and now a F150. Worked well on all three vehicles with the same trailer.

Aero 2 mirrors are a good solution when form fitting mirrors are not available for your specific model. Get the biggest and best fitting mirrors you can find. If you are not happy with what you have, keep looking. And augment the mirrors with a rear view camera. Good luck with your research. Pat

We've used the CIPAs for two years / 25K towing miles on our Tundra and they work fine. Not expensive, easy on and off.
