This is my 2005 Tundra double cab. They adopted the new standard in 2011. I'm not changing my TT so I'm worried. The new truck has bigger everything.

Both trucks are SR5 4x4 double cab.We pull a 2005 safari 25' ab. The 05 pulled it pretty good but struggled a little on steep grades. I'm hoping the 2011 with the 5.7 will do a little better.

Your GVWR is slightly higher than my 2010 DC 2wd SR5 6900lbs. I don't have the 275 sized tires but 255/70x18. I wonder if the tire size is the only reason your GVWR is 200lbs more? But your payload is slightly less due to the weight of the 4x4 components.

I used to have the 4.7L V8 in my 2005 4Runner towing a 17' Casita (3500lbs) and it would slow down on the longer grades. Being only a 5 speed transmission I would have to shift to 3rd to maintain 55-60mph on longer grades out west. I noticed this on the climbs between Sheridan, Wy to Billings, MT. The diesel's pulling 5th wheels blew past me like I was standing still.

I haven't had an opportunity to tow my 2x heavier 2008 25fb out west yet. I'll be heading out this June. I'm sure 3rd gear will have to be used to pull my 7000lbs up some of the anticipated grades.
