1995 Excella and 2003 E450

Picture taken at the Jackson Center Airstream factory. 1995 Excella 34' front kitchen model. The van is a 7.3 Powerstroke retired ambulance chassis. I added the body from a E350, which has a shorter wheelbase. That's why the front doors of the 350 had to be cut down to stretch the body, making it look like a half door. Once I install a set of 1950 F100 fenders on the back, I'll bolt on the outer wheels to make it a dually again

Wow! Looks great! How do you achieve no rear sag? WD hitch? I do have a little sag with our MDX but the ride is good. Should I tighten up my spring bars a bit more on my Hensley Arrow hitch or lengthen the stinger? There is another pin hole to make it longer.

Thanks. Yes, 0 sag. The Cayenne has auto leveling air suspension on all 4 corners. However, I do have the WD cinched up so that the front axle weighs about 20 lbs more than when unhooked. I basically try to return all the weight taken off the front axle when hooked up. This manages to keep the rear axle under max weights, puts some of the TW back on the trailer and makes for a very stable steering feel when going down the highway. This is done by trial and error at the scale so you know exactly what impact your changes to the WD bars are having on all your axle weights.

Thanks! A trip to the scales sounds like a good idea. My tongue weight is probably close to 900 lbs and my cargo weight capacity is less than yours.Click image for larger version

Here is a different sort of combo. The airstream does the towing, 1989 345 Classic motorhome, towing a 1980 Porsche 911.
Makes for good fun when the coach is parked.

Towing w/a IIa, brutal.

What year is the Defender 110? Engine, gas or diesel?

Best regards and safe travels
