Safari Total Loss, Need Transport For New One

Well, as my thread 2 weeks ago showed, the insurance co says the trailer is a total loss. There is an exact model in NJ that we would like to buy, but would like to have it transported to FL. Any suggestions on services, prices, towed or flatbed????

Looks like it would be about 3 weeks out, but could be stored up there until we could pick up. Would like to get it out of the cold country before the real ice and salts start......... help!!

My first suggestion would be robert77. He does transporting, and has a good deal of Airstream experience (he sells them as well as towing them). You can shoot a PM to him, he also has an email address in his forums classified ad.
Another alternative would be a "relay", either from dealer to dealer, or dealer to forums member.

Sorry to hear about that. Go to www.uship.com, people there place bids on the job, and feedbacks like Ebay. We used it for a boat, worked out great. Make sure they are insured.

Thanks for the input. We have found our new unit, and it is in NJ at Colonial, and we would like to have it transported to Florida (near tampa) the first weekend of Dec (5-7 timeframe). Any input would be appreciated and most valued!!!

Why not contact Frank Bates, at Bates RV? See if he and Patrick can work out a move from Colonial and Bates for you with it. If you didn't know, and I'm sure you do, Bates is in Dover, FL.

So ncbambi, do you know what happened? I asked you about the 23fb and you responded very throughly, I appreciate that. Is the 23fb a stable design?

Ah Come on, it's only a thousand miles or so...

Actually the weather has been quite nice around Virginia. You could have a wonderful opportunity to go to Atlantic City, have Colonial deliver it there, then take the beautiful I-95 (snicker) south with your new trailer.

Hi Subfan1

I have driven the 23' over 1500 miles with no problem. My husband was driving the trailer, following me - I was driving our 45' motorhome headed south to FL. He has driven our previous bambi 19' north and south, with no probs. It was a fluke to be sure, kind of a perfect storm, but who knows why these things happen. It was surreal to watch it from the side views and the monitor from the coach. I have driven about 60,000 miles in motorcoaches, he however doesn't have the same experience that I do.

The 23' does not disappoint, in fact that is why we are getting another one just like it. There isn't one thing I would change, in fact told my husband that after I had made a couple of trips in it myself. I have driven the crazy mountain roads in it, like the Blue Ridge Parkway, and just love it.

OK foiled again, we may just drive it down from NJ, nothing set yet, but we are planning on taking the Auto Train from Sanford FL to VA. Just too early to tell yet. It is hard to take the time off right now.

Colonial has offered to drive it down, but we want them to put a new dual cam on, do I have to have my TV there to get it adjusted? Can anyone who hooks up just adjust the chains to get it adjusted to their TV? We used the 5th chain link on the 800#
