Reece SC hitch

Is anyone using the Reece Sway Control hitch (not the dual cam)? If so, are you satisfied with it? Would you now, after using it, prefer another brand or model?

Have used both, cam and sway control. When we purchased our 25ft we towed from southern Florida to Ohio using the just the sway bar. We then hooked up the cam system. Both worked well.

I used a non-cam Reece for my 62 26 foot Overlander with my 3/4 ton window van. It was acceptable. If you have a full 8 ft. box on your truck, it might work OK. You could add a frictional sway dampener, which might help. Sometimes I used one, when I pulled with the van.

I currently use a Reese twin cam for my 34 fter when pulling with my dually. Sometimes, I add a frictional dampener. It does provide some minor improvement.

Safety, is the real issue.

All a trailer tower can do, is use the best there is, drive carefully, and enjoy.

The dual cam Reese sway control has a brain. It knows when the rig is in a turn, by UNEQUALLY adding more tension on the bars. Up to about a 20 degree turn, you can take your hands off the steering wheel and the rig will striaghten out. That is IMPOSSIBLE with a friction sway control, since it has no idea if youir in a turn or not.

Reese bars perform very well when they are in at least a 1 to 2 inch bend. That is the key. They muat bend an inch or two. All to many owners "over hitch" today.

When using a Reese with a 1/2 ton truck as an example, a good rig would use 750 pound bars, when the tongue weight is between 600 and 1000 pounds.

When the bars bend an inch or better yet 2 inches, a Reese dual cam provides a fantastic setup.

Many tests have proven that over and over again.
