ProPride Hitch with Mud Flaps

I searched but did not find a discussion on this topic. I have a Pro Pride hitch and am considering the type of mud flap that mounts on the receiver. With a weight of about 30 pounds in addition to the 50+ pounds of the stinger it seems to be a bit of a hand full (pardon the pun) to remove the stinger. Does anyone else with a Pro Pride use this type of mud flap and how do you handle the additional weight when hitching and un-hitching?

Are you referring to the Enkay Mud Flaps?

The Hula-skirt we use is unwieldily, but not quite that heavy.


I lay the haha stinger angled up, the 4" drop holds it at about 45*, drop the TT on, then slide'r in, as you see it stays on while on the road.

Yes, I have been looking a the Enkay Flaps. I think they are about 30 pounds.

POI...measure carefully you need 3"-4" of ground clearance, the brushes lift a little underway to keep from sweeping stuff into the trailer.


A bit less expensive....

I have the rock tamer mud flaps that stay on the Pro Pride stinger. I don't have any problem lifting and inserting into the truck receiver.

The fact that I have a bad back, and this very same thing about the weight of the stinger AND flaps, the last two sets I have had have been attached to the truck, and not the stinger, or draw bar.

Not the most stylish thing in the world driving around with the big flaps on the truck, but don't drive the truck that much without the trailer, don't have to lift them together, and two bolts remove the flaps in about five minutes.

Thanks Bob for "weighing in" on this. I thought they would be heavier.

I too have been considering something like this, but the truck flaps do a pretty good job. Most of the dings on our Airstreams have been from gravel/rocks thrown up when we meet or get passed by other vehicles. My thinking is the segment protectors catch what our truck throws, and have resigned to the fact they will take the punishment although it will take awhile to make them unpresentable.

However, one bad roadway could change that. So am still open to the idea.
