ProPride and Airstream

How many of you use a ProPride hitch on your Airstream and how do you like or dislike it . I'm not interested in Hensley info just ProPride . Hope to hear from some of you .
Thanks Les Grace toledo Ohio wbcci# 7074

I really like my Propride. 8000 miles Florida to Oregon and back in 6 weeks, June into July. High winds, up to 10% grades, Good and bad interstates as well as rough secondary (tertiary??) roads, semis passing in both directions, two panic stops. My truck developed a coolant leak, the satellite dish on the roof developed an open cable, but the trailer and Propride were flawless. Oh, I almost forgot - the 16 year old shower handle swivel cracked and wouldn't stay in place.

I have been reading that thread not all 118 pages yet but many including the ones from 2009 my big concern with the PP is how low they hang on the Airstream Sean says you only get about 7 1/2" ground clearance with it and that bothers me . I have encountered some scary sway with my Reese dual cam hitch especially when being passed by Greyhound Busses and some big rigs + the $3K cost of the PP but you can't put a price on your safety .

Our trailer had a Propride on it when we bought it. I really didn't know that much about the hitch until we got the trailer and started reading about it. The PO had a dealer install it for him and they did not install it correctly. Once I reinstalled/tweaked it, it has been great.

Last summer when traveling from Moab to Vernal Utah there were 30-40 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Having the PP for that leg of our journey was great.

It does have a little bit of a learning curve hitching & unhitching. The lower ground clearance does come into to play from time to time.

Put a want ad in the classifieds. The propride hitches come up quite often for about $1800 - 2100. Shipping is $170 freight. Sean will support even used hitches. He's great!
