Rivets and 16" wheels

Just saw this thread and my experience is as follows: On my 2007 27D, popped rivets, about one or two per 12 months. My 2009 27FB same thing.

Now, on my 2015 Serenity 30RB, after switching to the 16" wheels, Firestone Transforce tires, pressures at 54 psi, have not seen a rivet pop in 15,000 miles.

The much softer ride as a result of lower pressures possible with larger wheels/tires is easily seen after a tow, things just seem to be in place, small articles, attached with Velcro, intact after even 1000 miles of towing, and this after going through several northern states, including Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois where the roads are not always perfect.

I've had two new Airstreams and they both lost a couple of rivets here and there. From my experience is seems to happen mostly in the first couple of years of travel and so I attribute it to things flexing. Maybe a couple of places naturally settle to a different point than when they are when installed. A slight shift and you pop a rivet. Mine have generally been above and to the right of the door.

With the hundreds of rivets in an Airstream, one or two aren't going to have any significance in the structural integrity of it.

We have had two 25FB's, a 2005 and a 2015. The 2015 has popped three interior rivets in a year and a half and 20,000 miles. The 2005 never popped a single rivet that we know of in eight years and 120,000 miles. I use that "we know of" caveat in that the 2005 had the mouse fur walls and vinyl ceiling. For all we know of fifty rivets could have popped.
