I got the coupler from NAPA. I might have the part number at the shop. I opened the holes up on the coupler to use the standard pin. The vise grips to me were not secure enough. From memory we thought a machined plate could be slid into place to provide a positive lock.

New Trailer...800 miles...ProPride Intall
I trimmed a piece of 2x4 to slide in from behind to prevent the head from pivoting. The dealer I go to has used it a couple of times and it works great.

I don't see advising a person stay away from a dealer due to their inflexibility in providing service as unprofessional. In fact, I'd argue it is more professional to advise away from a business which is inflexible. They were given multiple solutions and will not use any of them. There is a real solution.

Do the install yourself at the dealer. I did ours that way. It took us about 3.5 hours and we were working in the dark with good portable lights. If you have a battery powered impact wrench and a set of big sockets it is pretty simple. You need the torque wrench and a 1.125 inch socket if I recall correctly- check before you leave. We forgot a few tools and were lucky to have an AutoZone nearby. Watch out for rounding off the nuts on the large yoke bolts. Mine did but they were tight when it happened. Take work gloves, grease, rags, and snacks. I took a pop-up canopy in case it rained - luckily it didn't.
Also - be advised - the total hitch setup weighs nearly 200 lbs. using the stab on the truck is how the instructions tell you to support the unit during installation. No floor or bottle jacks are needed but they definitely may be helpful.
Good luck!

We obviously differ in that regard. Provide a simple solution to lock the head for moving. I would be happy to purchase such a device do would others. Not sure why you resist providing a solution to the problem not for the dealer but your loyal customers.

I do have a solution. The head lock plate is the T-shaped plate. It bolts to the holes used for the cover.

Curious if you have a pic of this in place? Was there anything else you did to the 2x4 or did you just trim the length. Thanks?

Sean - would that work in mine? My TV end is 2.5" but I don't know if it's the same size head as the 2" version? If it is - it looks like that could serve the purpose. Any pics of it with the T-plate bolted in? Thx.

I emailed some time ago and did not hear back so I assumed there was nothing. What is the part number and cost on the T locking plate. Thanks

New Trailer...800 miles...ProPride Intall
Why not include the plate with an explanation or at least offer it as an option as a kit maybe. I did not see this when I ordered or looked recently.
