I puirchased our 2018 F150 Diesel this past November. After 6000 of miles I couldn’t be more happy with the truck. We sold our 2006 Airstream Bambi this past April for exactly what we paid for it in 2008 and bought a new 20’ Flying Cloud a month later. Our first trip with the new F150 turbo diesel was to The Villages in Florida last month. The Bambi GVW is 5000 lbs and the towing capicity of F150 diesel 4x4 is 11,400 lbs. Traveling at 60 mph while towing our mpg is between 17 and 18 mpg. The 10 speed transmission is as smooth as silk and there is plenary of power. The best part is the 26 to 28 mpg I can get when not towing, Couldn’t be happier!

I'm thinking about buying a 150 diesel. What has oil changes and DEF cost over the 6K you have on it?

I'm wondering if the new F 150's have a transmission oil temp reading in the display? I know that it doesn't have a guage, but the display offers more data if you scroll through it. I ask this because the new Duramax Colorado has that feature. Tranny temp is as important as engine oil temp.

You can get it turned on using a program called ForScan, which you can find on the F150 forum: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/forsc...-truck-348987/

There are a lot of postings there, but it does allow you to make modifications to the 2015+ F-150s. I added water and tranny temp readouts on the dash, seat and steering wheel temp controls to the home screen of my Sync 3, and auto folding towing mirrors (fold when truck is locked, unfold when unlocked). Lots of other computer controlled mods available with the program. Check it out. And if you decide you don't like or want a mod you made, you can reverse it, though you need to keep the original settings (save As Built file).

I'm considering going from my 2016 to a 2019 and plan on using Forscan to make some mods when I do.

Without any additional tools, I have been able to get the trans temp to display in the speedo display. You have several items to select from.



I second xyzabe on Forscan. With a windows laptop and a ~$30 plug in gizmo you can make a number of modifications. Turn off "fake" engine sound, enable fog and hi-beam headlights simultaneously ("Bambi mode"), correct speedo readings when changing tire size, disable double horn beep if engine running, etc. It's a pretty straight forward procedure to make changes and the F150 forum and Forscan forums have a number of very helpful folks to assist if you have problems. Forscan works on most Ford and Mazda vehicles manufactured after about 2010.

The oil percentage at 6000 miles shows only 55% used so I’m guessing the change will occur at 10,000 miles. Added DEF at 5000 miles at a cost of $20..

F250 Death Wobble?

Have you had any experience with the F250 death wobble? I have just purchased an 2019 F250 Turbo Diesel 4x4 not know anything about such an issue (guess I should have done a lot more homework before purchasing). Would love feedback on this issue. Thanks.

I think that "death wobble" is total BS. If you have the lane keeping option on the truck it'll give the steering wheel a shake if you are getting close to the lane lines.

Well, it's definitely not an F150 thing, totally different front suspension. AFAIK it only affects 4WD SuperDuties, with the solid axle.
