Mirrors for 3/4 Ton 4x4 Silverado
I need some advice. I have an 2004 Silverado with 6.7 liter engine and will be pulling a 34 foot Airstream Excella. What exterior mirrors are best for pulling this size trailer? I am new to trailering and have much to learn. Thanks.

I have an '03 Silverado Duramax and use (and like) my pair of McKesh mirrors, sold by Hensleymfg.com. They made a big difference compared to the truck mirrors alone when I owned a 29' trailer; now with a 24' Tradewind, they seem less needed.

The mirrors in post #2 are pretty close to the Factory option, they work very well with NO vibration...

Has anybody used the slip-on mirror extensions? We are currently using some clip on style and they work but the inner mirror does vibrate. We haven't upgraded since I'm not sure they would be an improvement
Thanks!

I used these on our 95 Burb, cheep, worked but vibrated pretty bad.
They just slid over the stock small folding mirrors.

Search for the thread called "Question about Mirrors". I have pictures of my CIPA slip ons on page 2. There are others as well. Sorry I can't figure out how to paste the link with the ipad.

We have a 2004 Duramax with the factory mirrors and are happy with them pulling our 1994 34 footer. However, I added the small, rectangular convex mirrors you can stick on to give a wider field of view- important when passing someone or them passing you and you want to ensure the way is clear. Mirrors have never fallen off. The only regretful thing is GM ordered the factory mirrors and they do not extend as far as the manufactured original ones and I learned that when I complained to the manufacturer.

Great customer service. Have had mine for 6 or 7 years. Had to replace one mirror lens due to an oops and had it in in two days . Never a problem and look great extended or collapsed. Btw. Electric extend and retract.

I have used the slip-on type side mirrors from CIPA, on my 2002 GMC yukon 1500XL and I like them very much. I originally bought them as a quick fix and did not think I would like a plastic slip-on mirror. However time has changed my mind again. Minimal vibration if any even at 70+ MPH. If the trailer is not behind me I forget there on the truck. I have even driven through the car wash with them on (by mistake) with no problem at all. They are about 32.00 per side and install with no tools. Plus the truck still has factory equipment (mirrors) intact for better resale value.

We like camping mirrors best
Our present towvee is a 2006 Silverado 2500HD 4X4. It came with smallish mirrors with heat, turn signal, other features. We tried for five years using Camco snap-on extensions and twice drove friends' trucks with camping tow mirrors like picture in post #2 above. So much better, great sight picture and easy to switch from towing to urban driving -- just slide them in or out.
We finally pulled the trigger on this project last November. Found them through Amazon, I think, for $250. Perfect fit, wiring harness was just right, directions are good, mirrors look good and work great. Plug and play -- disconnect the wires from the old ones, unbolt and remove the old ones, bolt in the new ones, plug the new wires in, and your work is complete.
Follow the directions, there is one small change you also need make about the automatic rear-view thingy, it was easy and didn't matter to us.
Bottom line, we love the bigger mirrors, the large convex lower section is great for quick check on blind spots and for backing, and the mirrors are rock-steady. Best of all, we no longer remove and replace our mirrors on towing days -- they are always ready. We just extend or retract them -- easy easy.
