Hi, sure glad that you spotted that hitch before hitting the road. We, also, were shocked at the dryness of Eastern Washington. We spent about a week at Gig Harbor. Went the Museum of Flight and the Boeing factory. We also took the underground tour in Seattle. Not one single drop of rain while we were there.

Oh, and we spent close to a week at "Camp Smartstream" in Port Angelus, Washington. We had a great time with Dan, Irene, and Hagar.

In Defense of Washington

OK everyone, the state of Washington is not just the wet and rainy Seattle area. We have just about every micro climate you can think of, and yes, a large portion of Central Washington is desert like. The Eastern part of our state contains the rich and productive farm lands and famous wineries of the Walla Walla Valley. Moving north is the richest wheat land in the nation in and around the Pullman area. The Palouse top soil is measured in feet, not inches. From Spokane north are vast pine forests and many lakes.

The water reclamation project spurned by the building of the Grand Coulee Dam transformed much of Central Washington into productive farming land. Moses Lake is surrounded by farms which stretch all the way to the Columbia River to the west.

Washington is a great place to come and visit. We have a bit of everything except for maybe a Hensley store in the center of the state.

Hi Bob,

Just to let you know when we met with Dan and Irene in Coeur d'Alene, they now have a new companion named Rascal. Hagar had passed away.

We were not knocking the Eastern Washington terrain, we were just a little surprised by the desert features. We had only been in southwestern Washington prior to this. For some reason we thought that the that the whole state was heavily forested. We are now aware that Grant County, Washington produces more potatoes than any other county in the United States. We are also now aware that there is actually a town named George, Washington which, by the way, has the lowest fuel prices within 75 miles.

Is there any source of information concerning rebuilding/maintaining a Pro Pride hitch?

We hope you two and Lucy are recovering from the Great Adventure. Like you, I've had superlative support from Aaron and the Hensley team. Thanks for the great sharing you guys do on this forum.

Welcome to "the Inland Empire"

Moses Lake has a really cool store called Tri State Outfitters. Check it out - camping gear, etc.

There is seriously cheap camping at the county fair grounds or good views at Cascade Campground as well - highly recommended.

Check out the farmers market: Moses Lake Farmers Market

BTW- that place in George with the cheap fuel - avoid the bean burritos in the hot case.

For a forum that is largely devoted to advice, both sound and otherwise, that burrito alert may rise to Hall of Fame stature. lol

Thanks for the tip. We will visit Tri State Outfitters in the next couple of days.

Burrito, on a trip to Helen, ga I had what they called the Killer Burrito at the Troll Tavern, on the river under the bridge in downtown Helen. The burrito almost lived up to its name! Will never forget it. Sorry to hijack. Jim

I am waiting to see if you get a brand new head unit, or a refurbished one from Hensley.

We visited Tri State Outfitters in Moses Lake. Neat place. We spent a couple of hours there.

Our replacement control head for Lucy's Hensley is expected to be here TODAY! The UPS Tracking shows that it is "out for delivery" in Moses Lake. We understand that the UPS man comes to the campground around noon. Hopefully, Lucy will be operational later today. We will report with pictures.

I am glad you have seen and enjoyed Eastern Washington. I liked your many photos, and have been to a lot of the locations you shot them in. I lived and worked in Pullman for many years. Most people have no idea how diverse Washington State is, from rain forest to deserts. And a whole lot of very nice people too. You have found interesting places and scenes on your forced stay, and It is so very nice you seem to have enjoyed them.

BTW, the original Tri State Outfitters is in Moscow Idaho. An institution there too.

I hope your new hitch parts arrive and fit well. Safe travels, and come back to visit the NW anytime.

The New Hitch did arrive today. Lucy's old Hensley was Number 8332. The replacement hitch is a reconditioned unit and is number 12515.

It took us about five hours to remove the old hitch and install the new one. Much of that time was spent planning our next move.

We got the installation done, and everything seems ready to go.

Here are a few pictures of the process.
