Leer Locker - Leer Truck Cap

I noticed a few posts on other threads in which Air Forum members referred to the Leer Locker. If you have a Leer Locker or have experience with the accessory I'd like to hear from you.

How well does it work? Any problem areas/concerns?

Does it block, or in any way reduce, your line of sight through the rear view mirror?

Any comments from owners/users of the Leer Locker system are welcome.

Here's a link to a YouTube video describing the product:

Leer

Yes I have one. Works great and would recommend. No issues with visability. Great for storing small items even smaller tool boxes will fit. Totally out of the way.

I'm planning to take time to look at Leer as well as A.R.E. truck tops. Both brands have their good and bad points but the Leer Locker certainly has some appeal. I called the local Leer dealer and the price for the Locker is approximately $1000 so that adds 20-30% to the cost of the topper depending on the model purchased.

I have an ARE and it works great. Just beware that itís not totally water tight and when youíre driving in heavy rain the back couple feet of the bed will get wet from water coming in through the tailgate gaps

I had a Leer on my F150 and it was excellent. I did also add some weather "stripping" around the tailgate, but even in torrential downpours, it kept everything dry.

I can't compare as I've never had an ARE product, but would give Leer an unqualified thumbs up.

Leer Locker

I have one on my F250. I also got the exterior rails for a Thule rack on top, which I've used frequently. The Leer Locker is sturdy and has robust sliders. I carried my assortment of "dog bone" electrical adapters and assorted small loose attachments for plumbing and other odds and ends. It can be a tall reach to open and feel heavy, especially if the TV is not level. Sliders are very efficient moving the tray and latching securely. Never had any problem with leaking. No visibility problems due to the Locker; more with all the gear loaded in the bed. I also have the "Decked" drawer system that gives another level of storage.

I have a Leer topper on my GMC. It has a Thule rack system, and a Leer locker. I have noticed no water intrusion. It is a quality piece of goods. Works great, and creates no visibility problem. I also have a bed slide. If you don't have one I recommend one. It will change your life.

I have had an ARE on my last 2 trucks. They have exceeded my expectations and have not leaked. The fold down side windows are a must have item.

I have a leer cap on my 2009 Silverado. I occasionally use Yakima racks, and the attachment point sliders leak when it rains. There is also a depression in the center of its roofline. I still serves its purpose but I would not buy another leer product.

I have the leer locker with a bed slide - You do lose some head room but it does provide secure storage for valuables. I recommend it and a bed slide as well, if add the locker when you buy a shell it saved me a couple of hundred dollars on an additional install costs - i covered the logo with black tape so it cant be seen if someone looked in the shell - well made and heavy duty
