How to level an AS

I know this has been answered several times but reaffirm for me. I recently purchased a new 2500 TV with a much higher ground clearance then my other one. Therefore I am going to have to purchase a new hitch shank with extended length and additional holes for the bolts. Can I assume that I can hook up the old hitch with the weight of the AS plus weight distributation on flat ground, measure the distance to the top of the ball and do the math to see how many more holes I need to get me to 19.5 inches. Do I need one more hole that could give me another inch or two. I think most standard hitches are six hole so eight or nine.It may not matter but I have a Curt hitch. Once the part comes in and the hitch is rebuilt then do I forget the ball height and measure the belt line front and back and level using that measurement. Am I thinking properly.?
Second question. Since I have to redo much of this set up and spend money on additional parts I considered changing completely to a hitch that doesn't use friction anti sway. Do Reece or Equalizer run in the 7 or 8 hundred dollar range and is that good money to spend or is a friction sway a reasonable way to go?

I do not like friction controls on bigger trailers. Others will disagree. EQ is less than $500 and Reese dual cam is about $600. Shop around online.

These choices have been discussed extensively on other threads. Use the search function in the blue bar above, if you haven't read some of the threads. A LOT of info there.

My choice was Reese dual cam.

What I did.....

Get the trailer level unhitched...

Measure the height from the top of the socket to ground...

Select drop to match that measurement...

When hitched adjust wd to return trailer to level...

Visit CAT scales to check for proper weight distribution...

Level TV & trlr is the goal...

Others may differ...but that has worked fine with our Hensley.

Agree....research and shop around for the sway control.

Don't scrimp the Peace-of-Mind/safety factor is very important

IMHO.... our Hensely has been our best investment in that regard.
