Whereas these forums are all about supposition and conjecture, that is exactly what this thread will be about, as the only information available is the photo attached. My wife took this to show me the trailer, but it ended up being the hitch up that interested me the most.

Man that trailer is close to the TV bumper... is the little bit of tongue directly into the vehicles’ receiver? Maybe some sort of universal joint between them? So strange...
It could be camera lens compression. If this photo was taken with the 100 mm lens or more, or zoomed in, then the photo would have a compressed look which could give the appearance that the trailer is closer to the truck then should be.
Bet the coach frame is bolted to the TV frame. There is a poster that wanted similar, but can't find one as they are no longer built.
"Can't understand how it goes around corners" must mean the picture you have does not adequately show the mechanism. But it should make for an interesting discussion. Pat
Can see something below the bottom left corner of the bumper ... almost like some kind of assembly that connects between the tv axle and the as frame. Can’t wait for the final show and tell!

To all who are waiting, unless the owner sees this post, that picture is all there is, there will be no reveal or final answer.
As for the photography questions, it was taken with a Samsung Galaxy S7 so no compression, you can see the shadow car from my wife's headlights of the trailer on the back of the TV
My thought was also that somehow it is hard connected to the vehicle, but thinking of how a tag axle drags, I'm back to how does he make a right turn.. I was just amazed, I've never seen anything that close before.
This was on 93 NB, north of Concord NH, right around Memorial Day. I believe it is an antique NH plate and it doesn't look like there is a plate in the frame of the TV
Yankee inginuity - a friend lived in up-state New York. He said his neighbors went to the dump to recycle cast away stuff before they went to the second hand store. So tight to the TV is not a surprize.
I still think this is a normal hitch, well different, that is connected to the rear axle of the Tow Vehicle. Have heard about them, but never seen one. The tag on the trailer and not the TV is a question. The TV is not that vintage a vehicle and that does not quite fit, but maybe grandpa's rig got a new life with a grand kid.
Very interesting thread. The mystery will remain until knowledge over shadows conjecture. So, for now, waiting. Pat

Maybe a Pullrite hitch with a shortened trailer tongue.
