I just saw a thread on the F150 Forums about Ford raising the prices on the 2015 F150. Options such as the extended fuel tank are now $395 vs $195. Other options prices have increased. Seems crazy an F150 XLT 3.5L EB, 4x4 Supercrew has an MSRP close to or exceeding $50k.

You have a very good point, unfortunately we need a lot of back seat room to fit the family and that makes Ford the hands down winner. The rather high msrp coupled with what they are offering for our trade in, makes this experience a little less than fun.

In the latest truck testing, the 2.7 whipped the 3.5, the monster Chevy v-8 and the Hemi in drags and towing, especially in the mountains with high altitude. Sounds like a real winner.

2013 Ecoboost 2015 25ft Flying Cloud
We have a 2013 SuperCrew 4X4 Ecoboost, 6.5ft box, 3:31 gears pulling 2015 25ft flying cloud. The truck handles the trailer no problem. Towing mileage between 10.5 and 11.5 mpg. No lack of power, pull any mountain pass at 60 mph. Empty on I-5 truck gets 21 mpg, average combined mpg is 17 mpg.

I have been waiting for the aluminum ecobeast. Your mileage is almost exactly what mine is and I have an '09 crew 4.6L 3V 3:55 ---towing the same mileage flat, hwy mileage on flat ground 21mpg @65mph; 20ish at 70mph at the pump. One difference I am sure of is that you have more reserve power. By the figures being posted on F150 forum, I would expect 1 mpg betterment on any pre 2015 ecoboost and 3 mpg improvement on a 2015. That seems to sum it up for me. As far as towing it seems to be the same as your figures show. I am wondering about the new one with less weight- if there will be any difference in tow situations.

Hi, I'm going from my Lincoln's 119" wheel base to my new F-150's 145" wheel base; Time will tell if I feel a difference besides turning.

My 2015 F350 truck has a 172.4 wheelbase and turns fine (after a slight learning curve).

It will tow fine. I tow with a standard cab version the 28W length with no issues what-so-ever.; and have a full ton of cargo weight to spare.

Ford F-150 3.5L V6 Ecoboost
Ok peeps I get a call today from the dealer telling me they will sell me their one truck, meeting my requirements on the lot- 2015 f150 King Ranch 3.5L Eco 4x4 for employee price and give me a good deal on my trade if I just come in. I check the window sticker on the truck online and it has everything I want but... No mention of tow package etc. it does have brake controller, smart tow connector, etc. According to the tow guide the payload is 2020 lbs for all 3.5 4x4 models and the tow rating is 10,700 lbs. so, is there an issue for selecting it?

Yes some times the towing guides only list the max payload for the most stripped down truck. You will need to look at the door sticker on that model and take into consideration any dealer added accessories.

Past 125" is not too relevant. The curve flattens out on this. Same as with vehicle weight. Past 4500-lbs and little is gained by increases.
A Dodge Charger sits on an approx 120" wheelbase and weighs 4700-lbs. It'll smoke a pickup pulling an Airstream in pretty much any category.

The King Ranch will probably have about 1500lbs of payload showing on the door payload sticker but that is a guess after looking at XLTs with only 1700lbs. Ford lowered the GVWR ratings on the 2015.
I'm giving up on 2015 F150. Ford just bumped the prices up and the payload expectations didn't realize on the 2015s. The only way to get close to 2000lbs is Supercab XLT. Ford isn't building anything with HD Payload Package yet.
I'll keep my 2010 Tundra a while longer.

Well, it wasn't to be at least on that truck. They just sold it! That was quick.
Kelvin, I am not sure what you are looking at for towing and payload. This year Ford joined Toyota in using SAE standards and it is now reported that they have the highest towing and payload capacity of any half-ton. Oh and as of the 16th the highest safety rating- all five stars in every test. I totally agree with you on the 2014 and payload rating. The new trucks gained that 700-800 lbs in payload for the most part from their now lighter weight. A standard super crew 3.5 has a payload of 2020lbs minus the extra weight of the trim model chosen- fancier is heavier. The XLT is the payload champ then it drops as you pick up heavier features like extra fuel tank, etc.

My Tundra has 1465lbs of payload with a 6900 GVWR. The 2014 F150s with 157" wb had 7700lbs GVWR. 2015s have a max of 7050 GVWR without HD Payload Pkg. I test drove a 2014 XLT SCrew 4x4 157" wb with max tow pkg and trailer mirros, leather and its door payload sticker showed 1745lbs or close to that. I decided to wait for the 2015s hoping to get close to 2000lbs without HD payload but only the Supercab XLT come close. I don't like the suicide doors of Ford's supercab. Compared to Tundra's Double cab and other manufacturers extended cabs its kinda an archaic design.
My main reason to go with Ford was to get 4x4, 35 gal tank. Now Ford has doubled the price of the extended range tank to $400. The 2014 F150 I drove was selling for 35k before negotiations. Maybe I missed the boat on that one but didn't like Blue Jeans color and figured an extra 300lbs payload wasn't worth spending $30k+. Its kinda ridiculous when you see $50k MSRP for a mid level trimmed XLT, makes my head spin.

Yes, but where do you put the generator, fire wood, bikes, and 150 gallon water blivet in a Charger?
