engine tuners
I have a F 250 6.7 Diesel stock. Anyone running a bully dog, sct or similar style tuner on their truck. What have you seen for performance increases, etc.
Thanks
Ed

I guess not. Shouldn't need one with that motor.

Ed,
I too have been looking for such recommendations. Not for power but more fuel efficiency.
So, if anyone has some thoughts, welcome them.

To obtain mileage you will need to delete the smog hardware. Changing the tune will not produce better economy and adding more power historically causes stock power systems components to have a much shorter life.
My question is why does the fuel economy drop by 33% to support using the smog hardware and where does that fuel go. I would think that wasting that quantity of fuel would be more environmental detrimental that just running to 2006 design standards.

Yea. When my F250 goes into the Regen clean exhaust cycle, fuel is just dumped.

Additional fuel is used to burn up the particulate matter that would otherwise be dumped into the environment.
Your lower fuel economy is detrimental to efforts to make a non renewable resource like fossil fuel last longer before we run out, but is beneficial to air quality.

Fuel economy gains will be more dependent upon which year truck you own. Non-DEF trucks = more fuel mileage, DEF trucks = not much change.
What you will gain is reliability as long as you don't up the power over stock levels. If anything goes wrong on a diesel truck it is most often related to emission equipment. Remember that the drive line components were only engineered to handle so much power in stock form. I wouldn't bother modifying a DEF truck unless it was a problem child. The clean tailpipe and quiet exhaust aspect is definitely worth something.
