duramax built in & 2006 classic disc brakes

Any conflict issues that anyone knows about using a 2009 Duramax with built in factory brake controller and a 2006 Classic ?

My '09 Duramax is not compatible with my '07 Classic with disc brakes, according to my dealer. He was so positive that they weren't compatible that the new controller was installed before I had a chance to check to see for myself.

Thanks, was it the AS dealer or the Chebby dealer ? What type of controller did they use? I am actually asking this for a friend that does not seem to be able to post, but that's another problem.

This was at Bill Thomas RV Sales, a very experienced Airstream Dealer in the St. Louis area. They installed a Hayes controller and I've had great brake control from it. I'm sure Airstream Support at 877.596.6506 would be happy to answer questions about the controller. They always want to know the last six digits of the trailer in question.

Thanks AS was closed for inventory, but he talked to Colonial and is off to pick up his rig. He got a control unit installed in MI that is supposed to work. 3 years ago, he made a trip to CA with a 27' without knowing about the factory installed brake connection required when the truck was new, so he has 5000 miles of 'towing without brakes' experience. His Chebby dealer forgot or didn't know about it. Now he tests the controller when he pulls out.

I switched from an '06 GMC with an aftermarket controller to a '12 chevy 2500 HD with the tow package and there was no problem using the factory controler on my '06 Safari 25'. However, Chevy changed the location of the 7-pin plug and I had to lengthen the wire loom on my car trailer that also works fine with the factory controller.

Excuse my ignorance...read the body copy not the headline referring to disc brakes. How do you get rid of posts and/or edit after 24 hours?
