Hi, I have a 25' Tradewind I am towing with a Chevy Tahoe. I also have a Draw-Tite 750 that was purchased for me by my brother last year. Could someone take the time to explain what this will do for me. Is it a for weight distribution? Anti sway? I have sifted through old threads and there isn't much about this brand. I don't take that as a good sign. Is it appropriate for my needs or should I trade it in for something else. Thanks. Pam
Then that means you have a weight distribution hitch with 750lbs spring bars. This hitch will be perfectly fine for your vehicle/trailer combo. What this does is essentially add a spring to the swivel point between car and camper, causing it to "lift up", put some weight back onto the front wheels of your car. This is a safety issue, since if you didn't have it, you could more easily loose traction on your front tires and loose control.
Others will tell you to get a sway control bar. We don't use one, but your coach is bigger in both length and weight than ours.
And BTW, Pull-Tite essentially sells Reese equipment under their own branding. Or vice versa, not sure which. So it is also a Reese, that's why you don't seem many Pull-Tites mentioned, they're the same thing. We have a Pull-Tite with the square bars and I think it's just fine.
John, Thank you for responding. Makes sense to me, last year an older guy at a gas station told us that in the 60's he saw them being advertised by pulling a TT with an El Camino with no rear tires! I thought the Draw-Tite would also keep the trailer from swaying. Is there room to add and anti sway bar? Pam
The Draw-Tite hitch system (we have similar model) does permit the installation of a friction bar anti-sway system. It usually requires installation of a pair of smaller hitch ball fittings ( approx 7/8" diameter steel balls) on trailer frame rail and on hitch mounting, usually to right of holes for bars to fit up into... The friction bar is a rectangular bar with socket on one end for ball, and it fits in sleeve with socket fitting at other end. Loosen friction handle to adjust length and fit over ball mounts with clips, and then tighten handle to creat friction...
Not as great as some of more expensive hitches like Equal-i-zer by Reese and others, but it will restrict swaying.. Install requires drilling into frame rail of trailer, and might better be done by installing dealer.
