Dodge Ram Brake Operator

Does your truck have one built in from the factory, and if so are you pleased with it?

Our 2012 Ram 1500 has it as part of a package that includes an information display in the instrument panel, so it's functions appear there as well as on the built-in controller as well. It has settings for light and heavy trailers, electric or disc brakes. The displays activate automatically when the trailer is plugged in.

It works similar to and at least as well as the Kenosha Prodigy controller we had on our Tundra. I greatly prefer this controller because of the instrument panel display and its firm and permanent mounting lower left side of dash.

There were improvements made in 2012 to the integrated brake controller. The 2010/11 models did not have the light/heavy trailer options and many folks who towed "heavy" (trailers in excess of 8000 lbs) did not like the controller. My brother owns a 2012 Dodge 2500 with the improved brake controller and tows a flat bed trailer loaded with a farm tractor ~13,000 lbs and no trouble stopping.

My 2012 ram 2500 has a factory brake control and so far (23,000 mi) I have been very pleased with it. Really like the light/heavy settings as I tow a variety of stuff.
