Source for aluminum cone jack stands ....

New cast aluminum jack stands are still being made and sold by Harold Hull (see my post #2 below) but he has recently moved to Indiana from Florida.

The cone jack stands come in two overall heights, 4 inches for use when parking your trailer on a upslope grade where the 7 inch stand is too tall to get the trailer level at full jack retraction, and 7 inches for use on flat and gently sloping grades and with short trailers where grade is not as important as with longer trailers. Another benefit of these aluminum jack stands is that they ground the trailer better than resting the front jack on its own rubber wheel or on a block of wood.

The price is $25.00 for the 4 inch tall stand and $30.00 for the 7 inch tall stand, plus actual shipping. Harold suggest you enclose $15.00 towards shipping and he will refund the balance to you if less than $15.00. He can ship by UPS or USPS but cannot ship to a PO Box by UPS (that must go by USPS).

Harold's contact information is:

Harold Hull
181 South 900 West
Angola, IN. 46703

telephone: 260-668-5671

If you don't have any questions, mail Harold a check for the appropriate total along with your address.

Harold has been casting these aluminum cone jack stands for 22 years and has not yet had one fail or be returned, so he obviously is doing this right.

The Airstream store at Perry sold these for $40 plus tax, but I got one at the WBCCI flea market for $20. Glad I didn't waste my money on those Airstream boxer shorts.

Thanks to Fred and Shari for getting this information for the forums!

One question, can these be polished?

After you have polished your two propane tanks, this will be a small piece of cake.

I believe they are a sand casting so they aren't super smooth. But the can be polished I suppose. If you want a smooth mirror finish like the skin of your trailer they will have to be sanded first to get rid of the slight texture.

Mine came today! It is alittle rough for polish, but it looks great just the way it is. I sent my order about 2 weeks ago and it came with a few dollars change (based upon the estimated vs real shipping cost). Thanks again to Shari and Fred for getting this information posted. I'll make sure and get a picture of it (under the hitch) this weekend at the meteor crater rally.

Thumbs up WoooHooo! Cool!

Yeah, they are a little rough for polishing as is...if you are real ambitious, you could sand it first to smooth it out, then polish it. Hmmm...now there's a winter project!

As a high school project that I was going to show, I made an anvil out of a RR rail. After the rough shape was done, I was able to grind/file/emery cloth it to a shine. I don't think it would take long with aluminum to make it look really nice if you wanted to.

Oh, the anvil? I took it home after the show and used it/beat it up.

Yeah, aluminum is soft...wouldn't be too tough.

I am a jeweler/hobbiest so I have the technology & tools to make it happen, just gotta find the time or make it a priority!

Does anyone have a current phone number for Harold Hull.
I tried the 260-668-5671 and it is not a good number. I am interested in purchasing a trailer tongue jack stand from Harold, but don't have a current contact. Thanks.

That looks like the "base" for a swivel chair in a fishing boat.

You're are sooo right Shari, I purchased some stands from him in August and the original ad had a Florida address. I was then directed to the address I posted above which is not current I guess. I can't find the ad right now. So I'm really no help...

Well this probably won't help but the address in Angola was good last July. I visited him there and bought two of the tandem wheel chocks he sells. Think that is his daughters address and believe he does spend winters in FL - in fact think he told me that when I was there.
