Brake controller display question

I've got a Prodigy II brake controller installed. Ever since installation, when the trailer was not hitched up, the Prodigy came to life when starting the vehicle.

For the first minute or so, the display would show voltage when braking, then display n.c. (no connection).

This evening the display displayed two dots from the moment I started the car - . . which is what should happen after 15 minutes of n.c. display.

Changing the boost cycled normally through b, b1, b2 and b3. Manually sliding the controller correctly displayed n.c. as there was no trailer connected.

The plug is properly stored away and not touching anywhere. My AS is 25 miles away in storage, so I can't just drive out and check if there's something wrong with the controller.

Does anybody have any opinions on this? I've considered resetting everything by disconnecting the battery for a moment, but that would mean re-setting the radio which is a pain in the butt. Am I worrying needlessly? I don't want to turn up next weekend (we're going camping) and find out my brake controller isn't working correctly.

Hmm, panic over, I think. Just went out again and started the car. The Prodigy flashed n.c. for 15 seconds, then settled at . . which is what should happen.

Guess I'll be taking the trip tomorrow to make sure.

I am sorry but I don't have any answers for you on your controller. I will tell you of a similar situation I am having with my controller that I have been a little concerned about. Ever since the controller, which is new has been installed in my current TV, it shows only the two dots you are talking about on the display. I know the controller is working, as I have pushed the button and the trailer brakes are working. I think I may have a loose connection or something. The first time I towed with my current TV and this controller the voltage would fluctuate as I braked, now the last time I used it only the dots appear on the display. I have checked to make sure that the trailer's umbilical cord is plugged in good. Good Luck!

This is from the Prodigy website:

Q. The display shows one dot or the display shows two dots.
A. The left dot is the power indicator. Meaning that the P2 is powered up and ready. The right dot is the Boost indicator. This tells you that there is a level of boost set.

Frequently Asked Questions - Tekonsha

If this is happening with the trailer plugged in, then my first step would be to take a nail file and gently clean the contacts. See if that brings things back to normal, it might just be a bit of dirt.
