Blue Ox WD Hitch

Does anyone know what the correct socket size is for a Blue Ox hitch? I want to use a break bar and socket rather than the one piece wrench handle provided to get more leverage.

We use a breaker bar instead of the ratchet. It's an old retread from long ago and shows it's age. But it is still functional. It lets us do the chain rotation without an extension. But, whatever is safe and works for you is a good idea. The OEM wrench has a poor hand feel and puts you a quite close to the A-frame and LPG cover. Knuckle gouge to prove that fault. It also takes a lot of muscle to control. Standing up and a bit back makes a lot of difference in your ability to control the rotational forces. Good old Harbor Freight sells a "shiny" new long breaker bar for just a few dollars. Shiny is good too. Helps bring out the smiles. Pat

Interesting you should ask, I'm doing the same thing and it's 1''.Measured last week.

Ditto on "raise the TV and AS tongue with the AS jack". I switched to a breaker bar with a swivel head long ago but if you follow the owners manual procedure of raising the TV and AS tongue you can almost rotate the brackets by hand.

Absolutely agree, simply hitch up, raise the truck with the AS jack and hitching the bars is so simple and safer. Unhitching, raise the truck until there is no tension on the bars and you can almost rotate them off by hand. Then lower again to unhitched the ball. This is far safer for your hands and vehicle. This was how the AS dealership instructed me for the BO.
