Maybe at 75-100K or if there is a problem...the OEM Ranchos on this model are fine.

I had a failure of one of the rear shocks in the first 6 months. And before that the ride was not good.

reducing cast iron and more turn on the adjustment jacks.. I have 1000 lb bars and adjust the bottom of jack tube some 6.5" up to have smooth ride. This is a 2003 7.3L F-250 SD pulling a 2005 classic 30 rear bed unit.

maybe you need heaver bars or more turns on jack screws.

The air bags were to improve ride and help level (yes, I know they do not increase payload).

It is difficult to understand why Bilstein has not developed shocks to fit the most popular truck in the world.

Better shock absorbers are always worth the price with a tow vehicle. Entry-Level BILSTEIN or KONI is “adequate”. One needs to move up a few steps from those or other suppliers bottom rung offerings. KING or FOX (and some others) also.

Body roll & body/suspension separation are the pickup vice. Where upgraded anti-roll bars (even just bushing material upgrade) are worthwhile.

Most of all, a rear Panhard Rod. (Get off your tail and find out how these act).

Since this crowd doesn’t set WD worth beans, it’s back to tire pressure as control. No more than what is necessary to carry the weight. But — like hitch rigging — I’d bet we’d find 90% have the wrong TV tire pressure.

Trying to counter bad truck handling/steering by tire overinflation. (Make things worse).
Put it on the scale for the Three Pass Method.

As to OEM shocks still working past 30k miles, yeah, sorta. The gas charge has leaked away, but if the hydraulic fluid isn’t leaking, they’ll be declared “good” (which they are t).

I just ordered 4 Bilstein shocks for my F-250 2017. The rear shocks are now available from Bilstein. I got mine at Summit racing for nothing off.

Front BSN-24-274937 $84
Rear BSN-24-274944 $104

I did look into the Fox 2.0 shock as they were available for the truck. They are much pricier at $165 / each.

I also ordered and received a Ford sway bar kit for my truck ($349.00) The platinum 250's did not come with one. The dealer actually went out to look at my truck and was scratching his head. He thought it had one standard.

I'll report back how they are. I won't be able to test the trailer until April.

I loved my Bilstein's that I had on my prev tow vehicle. Not sure of the Ford offering from them, but in GM land, there were 2 different models that would fit my application. One a bit more forgiving, the other a bit more stiff. I opted for the slightly more forgiving ones as they allowed me not to feel every pebble on the road, but still a vast difference from stock shocks....bottom line, you really can't go wrong with Bilstein.
