Best Tow Ball For Chevy Van

I'm purchasing a 2007 Chevy 3500 one ton van as the tow vehicle for my 1984 27' Airstream. The trailer has the large ball coupler. The van has the tow package so I guess all I have to do now is choose the tow ball, sway bars etc. Any suggestions? I am completely new to this so any help is appreciated. Jim

Jim

I am sure that others will chime in, but I believe you need a 2 1/8" ball, a weight distribution hitch and some kind of sway control with the hitch.

Welcome.

Hi, your choices are 1-7/8" 2" 2-5/16" and you will most likely need the last one. You will most likely need to find a WD hitch with sway control.

Welcome Aboard....

Jim,

I would inspect the OEM receiver closely for rust damage/cracks. Up to 2009 the GM hitch's were suspect. Replaced quite a few while at the Chevy store.

If I were getting a new hitch I would either get an Anderson or ProPride. There are threads on each you can read through and some on other hitches.

I am sure you will get many replies on this thread.
