Bambi people ... what's your tow?

Fellow Bambi travelers — what are you using to tow your beloved, and do you use a weight-distributing hitch?

We currently tow our 2006 Bambi Safari SE with a 2016 Tacoma Double Cab with short bed and factory two package. (Before that we had a 2007 Tacoma.) And yes, we use a sway control/weight distribution hitch.

We pull our (pre-Bambi) 1958 18' Pacer with a Ram 1500 Rebel, no WD hitch, but the truck has four corner auto leveling air suspension and built in sway control.

The air suspension is amazing.

When we had the 16-foot Bambi we towed with a Tacoma and a weight-distributing hitch.

Started out with a Durango V6 w/ weight distributing hitch.

Couple of months back moved to an F150 crew cab w/ the 3.5 liter ecoboost w/ weight distributing hitch.. Now she tows like a dream!

2007 Safari 20 SE Tow with a 2015 Ram 1500 also towed with a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Use an Equalizer hitch. Both towed the Safari great

We have a 2016 19' and tow with a 2003 Silverado with tow package and 5.3L engine. We do not use a WD hitch or sway device. Extremely happy with the way it tows. Safe Travels!

We have towed our 19' Bambi since it was new with four different Jeep Grand Cherokee V8s, always with a Hensley hitch.

2015- 16' sport towed with 2013 Lexus R450 h with blue ox wd/sc. No problem except my car's wiring system is being poopy when NOT towing.

I tow my 19c with a Ram 1500 eco diesel and a blue ox WD hitch. Wouldn't tow with out weight distribution. Air suspension etc. isn't the same thing. As has been said here many times, you don't need it till you need it and then it's too late to buy!

My Suburban is going strong, but I may replace it soon, since it is 13 years old.

I'm curious what others are using, thus this thread.

I'm also curious about the weight-distributing hitches and whether warranted if towing the smaller Airstreams.

The W-D threads ... well, I'm confused. I may need a priest to sort out the orthodoxies!

I don't use a W-D hitch at the moment. I do use an anti-sway bar ... I don't know if that's really all that effective, but so far, so good.

I like the Suburban. It's been most reliable and handy, but it is big for a daily driver. I'm thinking of something smaller, if possible.

The day I picked up my 19' Bambi, there was a guy at the same time picking up his 19' Bambi. I had a Ford Explorer with heavy duty tow package and he had a Honda Pilot. They took both our vehicles into the garage to fit out with hitch, sway control, etc but within a few minutes, they came back and told the guy that the Honda Pilot wasn't capable of pulling a 19' Bambi. After a little bit of discussion, he bumped down to a 16'-foot Bambi which the Pilot could easily handle. I was so happy I "passed."

2015 Flying Cloud 20 FB (Bambi): we pull with a 2013 F150 Supercab Lariet 4x4 with 3.5L Ecoboost and no W/D hitch. The Ford pulls like a dream! I pass semi's going uphill with cruise control on, and the engine is not even working hard.

Flying Cloud 20 Bambi towed originally with Lexus RX350 with V6 and factory tow package. Now towing with f150 Platinum Super Crew with 5.4 V8. Both use WHD and dual sway control. The Lexus was smoother tow but the truck carries more stuff.

Have been towing our 16' with a Toyota FJ Cruiser. For 3 years now. No problems. Have sway control but also toes fine without it. Added RockTamers since Bambi has no rock guards. Rock Tamers are great!
Only wish the FJ had a larger gas tank

Used to pull my 20ft FC with a Tahoe and Yukon, both with the 5.3L engine. Traded the '05 Yukon for a gently used 5-year old 3/4 ton Suburban with the 6L engine for towing....nice nice upgrade re stability and power. But use WD and anti-sway equipment as well. So far so good. Safe travels. jon

I have two tow vehicles - 2012 Dodge Journey RT and a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country. Both with weight distribution hitches....and we had the factory receivers beefed up to move weight to the front axles. Both with 3.6 v6.

Tows very well.
