'89 Excella - Weight

Does anyone have weight ratings for a 1989 25ft Excella? Trailer & Tongue weights? I am looking at purchasing one and need to make sure my TV will pull it safely.

Hi -- Airstream has had trouble keeping that part of their webpage online. We found members who'd copied the .pdf files. See the link at http://www.airforums.com/forums/f368...tml#post559123

Does that give you the number you need? Their older figures do tend to lack trailer payloads (GVWR minus the curb/empty weight). Those numbers are usually in the manual. Please realize the listed tongue weights are for the base model trailer without options and without necessary (weight distrib/antisway gear, propane in the tanks) or optional (cookware, food, personal gear) items. Spare tires usually figured as optional equipment on older trailers (except Classics at some point). WD/antisway gear, propane & spare tires contribute disproportionately to tongue weight and little of their load is transferred back to the axles.

Ask back here if somebody with a similar model can look in their manual if you need more info. An average Airstream might have 1000# payload -- higher in longer trailers.

I guess it's the same as my 1988 25 foot Excella, so 5100 unloaded, max 6500, tongue about 750. You can see what TV I bought to tow it.
