Post 2015/16 Ford F150 Towing and Payload Research

Hi All- I've been researching new trucks for my 2014 27FB. We really like the new Ford F150s. But we're also considering the Dodge RAM 2500. (Yes, I know these are completely different trucks.)

In my research, I've come across some very useful guides for one of the most popular drivable, yet duty capable trucks (1/2 ton variety) on the planet: the F150. Here goes:

Truck Option & Trim Payloads (appears to written for Ford salespeople): https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...SB_Updates.pdf

RV & Trailer Towing Guide: http://www.fleet.ford.com/resources/...Tgde_Sep30.pdf

2015 Specifications: https://media.ford.com/content/dam/f...F150_Specs.pdf

There's enough data in these 3 guides to make the most anal of us truck shoppers happy.

I wish I could find similar resources for the Dodge RAM. But truth be told, it's unlikely you need them. The RAM 2500 MegaCab 4x4 is arguably more truck than you'll need, which can be considered a good thing if you can live with the size. It's a beast, but an amazing tow vehicle.

A shout out to posters on this forum that call out dubious marketing materials and stress making your own payload calculations. ALWAYS consult the payload sticker in the driver's door frame for payload info. EVERY truck is different, even similarly equipped trucks.

Happy shopping!

b-

We bought a new F150 to tow our 2014 27fb in September. We have only been on a couple of short trips in Central Florida, but so far the 2015 blows away the 2013 F150 we had.

Details are here fwiw: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f463...le-141137.html
