I have disc brakes on my 2005 and a 2013 Silverado 2500HD. I simply bolted two brake magnets to the metal box aft of the propane bottles and spliced them into the brake circuit. My 2013 2500HD thinks it is seeing an electric brake trailer and works perfectly. Much smoother braking than my former Prodigy.

Sometime first quarter 2014. Best guess at this time.

Ordered electric/hydraulic disk brakes on 2014 Classic 30 with Dexter actuator on trailer. Will use Dodge 2012 controller on truck. Still wireless Tekonsa brake controller if needed.

I think 2011 was return to drums, at least my 2011 30ft Classic was drums all around.

Didn't know they are an option. Are you having Airstream Service Center install disc brakes before shipment? We are headed over there next month, curious what they soaked you for the upgrade, if you would send me a pm.

Probably a little delayed.

You can always go to Silverado HD: Engineered to Make the Tough Jobs Easier
for the actual press release.

The new 2500HD is on the GM site. I just bought a 2013 and I was eager to see what they had changed. I like the front-hinged rear doors on the new extended cab and I like the new dashboard. They did not change the Duramax or the Allison and that is what really counts. Beyond that, I'm happy that I got about $12,000 off MSRP and a great trade on my old diesel.

I'm sure the new model will pull close to MSRP for a while. For what I use the truck, the changes aren't that significant.

Leaning toward the 1500 with 6.2. Will wait and see how the direct injection goes. Next June is my order time.

Direct injection shouldn't be an issue. We've been using it in a several other engine families for a number of years now. Been flawless in those.

Sorry, I did not mention... Our 1999 34' Excella is 3 axle, drum. When I apply direct battery voltage, it draws rated amperage.... After I repaired bow, street side corroded wiring.

Glad you got it straightened out. I have heard no complaints with the drums and GM's ITBC....and a lot of raves....just not with us E/H crowd.

Just an update on my communication with the dealer....called them Wednesday afternoon late and was told the ONLY qualified tech they had, had a family issue last week so they couldn't make it over. (and I suppose this also prevented them from calling to let me know so I wouldn't wait around all week for their call????) Said they would get with me this week.

As a young person I used to work with would have said, "I'm SO sure."

And by the way, if anyone wants to know, this is Bluebonnet Dodge in New Braunfels, TX. At this point, I do not recommend them.

Another update, and I might get some action now.

Chrysler service manager and tech came today to check the brakes. Did their standard test with a fan motor as a load, and said, "they seem to be working fine".

Then I insisted they go for a ride with me, and now they understand there is a delay, they don't know what the problem is, why it is, but have seen and experienced it themselves, even called a dealer "electronics expert" who told them to "check the ground", and they are going to "get back to me".

I told them that all it's going to take is a situation where the road surface is slick, and someone does something stupid, and then there's going to be a $120K pile of s#!t in the road and people are going to be hurt.

I think I have their attention now.

Hi, what the heck; A fan motor? At the Ford dealer that I retired from, we had a full on trailer brake tester made by Tekonsha. This tester showed amps, volts, and had several brake magnets inside of the box so you could test single, dual, and triple axles brakes.

Obviously this Dodge dealership is not so sophisticated, but the important thing is they felt, and observed the delay, and so now admit there is a problem.

Hi, this is at least a good start.
