1973 Brake Wire ID

Hello All,
I have a little (big!) problem wiring a new female plug on my Airstream,
The owners manual (pg. 62) states the wiring color to the brakes should be yellow going to the female plug on the front of my tralier.
I have all the wires hooked up and working correctly except for my brakes.
I have three wires left over and I need a ID on them.....
I have a large white wire, a small white wire, and a small black wire.
The small white wire and the small black wire seem to be directy connected as they will take all the current you can give them.
As I have no yellow wire to hook up the brake controller to..............what are these wires for????

Greetings Mike!

Based on the information that I have for 1966-1981 coaches, the only black wire was for backup lights (these may have been optional on some coaches, but the wire may still be included), and only one white wire was utilized for ground. The source that I have always had good luck with in regard to wiring on the umbilical cord has been:

It is a 1973 International 27'
I do have a black wire hooked up for the back-up lights and it works fine.
The book says the brake wires are yellow but there are no yellow wires hooked to the brake drums or behind the female plug on the front.
The factory wires at the brake drum are black and white and I might add that this Airstream has brand new brake assemblys on all four wheels.
I will now check the link that Kevin was so kind to leave.

Another note,
This Airstream was converted to the "modern" type of 7-way plug years ago.
I just need the id of the 3 wires "left over" after I hooked up everything (running lights, charge line, back up, turn and stop lights)
I have one large white and one small black and one small white left over and no brakes.

Mike, this is the same trailer I have. See if the black and white wires at the wheels are enclosed in a gray jacket. This gray jacketed wire (if factory) should run into the belly pan and then to the unbilical connection under the front gaucho/sofa. In my camper it is connected to the (I think) yellow wire at the umbilical as well as a 12v dc power wire. I'm doing this from memory. If you can wait until tonight, I've got lots of pictures of the set up in mine (which is factory original).

Kevin's link above should show how it looked coming out of the factory, unless lots of stuff inside the trailer were rewired.
