1957 GMC Truck Questions

We're in Tucson, trying to help a friend deal with her recently departed partner's possessions.

This is a '57 GMC Truck that she'd like to sell. I've attached some pics that we took (we will do better ones for an ad). She'd like to sell it, but I don't know where to begin on helping with a description and a price. Before he passed, the previous owner said it was a Cadillac engine.

Can anyone point me to the right description/price/websites that could help fill in the blanks on what it is and how to price it? Is that Edelbrock carb a 4-barrel?

BTW, we met this couple on our first trip to Bisbee, AZ. They spotted our shiny Caravel on a hill and rushed up to compare notes on their '63 Bambi. We've been friends ever since.

Thanks!

first impressions

I am restoring a 56 Chevy truck now...essentially the same as this one. Looks like a work truck that had a "quick and dirty" paint job over the original industrial orange. Non original steering column, and looks to be an old stereo under the dash. No great shakes on the interior...glass looks good but it has the less desirable small rear window, old style aftermarket wheels. The carb is a four barrel but I can't see the motor....I doubt if it is a Cadillac. Rust is the problem in the lower doors, cab corners and quarter panels....the paint job probably covered that.

Sorry for the loss.

The '57 GMC would have a Pontiac 347 cu.in. V-8 with a 2 barrel carb, yours appears to have an adapter plate with a 4 barrel . These pictures show the 347 as stock in my '57 GMC
with factory installed NAPCO 4 wheel drive.

You're steering column and wheel appear to be from a late 70's early 80's Cadillac .

Nice Truck

Really like to see other guys old trucks. My 1954 has been slightly modified. With the exception of the tailgate and rear roll pan, it all original sheetmetal to include the frame.

We were able to help the owner sell it for 10K, just what they had put into it.

She's going to focus on fixing up and traveling in her Bambi.

Thanks again.
